Oxford lost - playoffs still mathematically possible?

By StirlingBoro9116/4 22:01Tue Apr 16 22:01:39 2024

So I made a joke at the weekend that promotion is still on and went through a number of results that would have to happen.

The first result happened tonight with that Oxford defeat.

The chances of everything going the way we need are still astronomical but are we still mathematically able to make the playoffs?

A big victory on Friday (can't see it coming) would suddenly leave us not a world away...

We should just "go for it" like all the social media managers expect Southgate to do for England.

Taye
Smith TVC Walker
Louis
Roberts Reid Pressley Pidge Hemmings List

This will 100% work.

Just like with England, this will work because we have the best attacking players in the league. I haven't seen any of the others play, but we definitely have the best attacking players.

Congratulations John Mousinho. Not a bad first full season in management that.

Mansfield promoted. It would be quite funny if MK bottle it in the playoffs.

There's a chance that W*king could get relegated at the weekend.

The run-in

Oxford v Stevenage

Blackpool v Barnsley
Cheltenham v Lincoln

Last Day

Exeter v Oxford
Lincoln v Portsmouth
Reading v Blackpool
Stevenage v Cheltenham

Impossible, but honestly not quite depending on how Friday goes.

The only shocks needed are a big win for us and Cheltenham to beat or draw with Lincoln. Everyone else is playing teams they could easily lose to.

We win 4-0 Friday thats 8 of the 13, then 2/3-0 games on the final day

Only problem is us winning 2 games in a row which has become impossible

Cheltenham are fighting for survival though and IF we get that big victory against Oxford on Friday a draw for Lincoln in that game against Cheltenham would mean they'd need a win on the last day to stay above us, if we win on the last day.

Oh I totally agree. The only way I could see it happening is a 4/5 goal win for us on Friday.

You are forgetting Lincoln...

Burton lost at home to Cheltenham ?

I guess that means at least Cheltenham have something to play for.

Barnsley so they can field an ineligible player and we get a bye to the final where we beat Peterborough 8-0 ?
