Our Crowds

Genuinely impressive. Hopefully the past couple of seasons have got people hooked going forwards and we can build on it (the crowds and the progress on the pitch), rather than just being because we have been enjoying immediate success. But you feel it does make our next appointment even more crucial, in an attempt to ensure we do continue that momentum.

Really positive after years of stagnation whether we did OK or not.

What are the comparitive figures for home fans?

Or is the data a bit holey?

Data very much lacking as in the past almost nobody (at our level at least) gave away attendance figures publicly.

Last season around 2/3 did, and this season I got hold of them all.

Our home-only average crowd this year is bigger than our entire average in every previous season though, so that gives an indication of how good they have been.

There is of course an element of playing some huge clubs, some new clubs, and some clubs we haven't played for many years, which is a pull factor for people, but there is a definite upward trend since we made the FL. I am very interested to see how next season holds up, taking into account the above draw factors, plus that most seem to be anticipating a drop off in form, but our core support is definitely a lot bigger in recent years and all the stuff that has been done seems to be paying off, with a spark from the success of recent seasons.

Varies significantly depending on the season too. 2015/16 and 2016/17 for example, only a few away followings weren’t published. Most seasons somewhere between 1/2 and 2/3 were published, so not enough for it to be even close to a complete record. And then there’s a few seasons where almost none of them were published! Frustrating all round really.

It’ll be because the second generation of Boro fans are starting to break through.

Once the third generation hits in 20-30 years we’ll be hitting 7k-10k each week in the conference south.
