One to forget but he has credit in the bank from last season. I do think Banfield is a big loss though.
The league table in November/December is far more important than a couple of poor performances in August.
Edit: And any first port of call to replace him would probably be Evans (under whom the last 3 months were terrible).

Yes. As said there are 'superfans' on here who thknks the sun shines out of Revs and 'to be patient'.
Ive said before and i'll say it again... we signed an inexperienced manager who we previously sacked for being shit and gave him an assistant who played conference football.
Its like going back to a poisonous ex-gf. You hope theyve changed but in the end you remember why you dumped them in the first place.

And I gave credit for that. However, that was in what was probably the weakest league 1 season that there has been in the past decade. I credit it to our strong defensive home form which was the only reason we got into the top half let alone playoffs. Our away record was abysmal and underlying numbers were too. Sooner or later we were gonna be found out and this is what is unraveling, we have seemingly no plan B. Subs are made too late, I watch players stand on the touchline for 10 minutes before they even get on which will only support our opposition in planning for our approach. It is naive and we are going to struggle in what is a much more competitive division this season

Which is fair, and I have big concerns over Revs' ability, especially to turn a game around, but I think it is very unfair on him when people who didn't want him second time around and will never accept it, to constantly mention his first spell (where he himself had admitted he was not ready for it) every single time we have a bad patch, whilst totally ignoring the past couple of seasons where he has had us finishing in very respectable positions, including our highest-ever as a club, which are surely more relevant than his first spell at the club.

To be fair, we battered them for 40 mins after that. Whether it was planned, tactical or forced, it worked. Albeit Reading may have also taken their foot off but I don't think they would have just soaked up all that pressure second half and not tried to change it.
Pidge's ability to find Butler in acres of space down the left time and again allowed us to work in the final third and get balls in the box. This wouldn't have happened had we kept TVC on the pitch. It was refreshing and thoroughly entertaining. Shame we didn't score and got caught out at the other end but that was the kind of football I want to see more of

I'm not sure you can gauge the second half properly because Reading clearly knew we had no chance of scoring twice, and sat back accordingly waiting for their moment. We were definitely better, but because of the space we were allowed - and we still didn't score - although it was a lot better to watch than the first half.
Criticism of Pidge's passing always makes me laugh - he hits a few into touch but he's probably the best passer of any our defenders, and as you said he can hit the wing backs far more effectively than any of the other choices, as seen last night. He never looks comfortable on the ball, but he does have a good pass in him.
I've said it elsewhere, but if we can find a wide player with pace, and someone to retain and move the ball around in midfield - and Revell enables the team to attack a bit more - then I think we'll be fine. If we try and keep it tight all season with a defence that's not as good as last year then we might be in trouble.

Roberts certainly isn't quick - he rarely gets away from a full back. That's one of the reasons why he constantly cuts in and plays backwards.
And don't disagree about Kemp, but it's the two spots behind him where we need a ball player. White, for all his critics, could pass far more effectively than any of the current options. I did think Knight showed promise yesterday though, although I doubt he'd be chosen ahead of Thompson, Phillips or Houghton (who could be that player based on what Plymouth fans have said about him, but he's not shown anything here)

Against reading he ran in an arc across the pitch chasing the FB, CB and RB, at full speed.
In the second half.
I noticed because it was unusual. In that he didn't clatter into anyone at the end of it in frustration and get booked.

Roberts has always been a technical attacker rather than reliant on pace. He’s got his caravan hooked up these days.
Kemp is our best player but we don’t get the best out of him. I’m also more of the opinion as time goes by that we can’t get the best out of him and the team at the same time. He has to be allowed to roam in that number 10 position and be a bit of a luxury player, we have a team that is (well should be) built to all put in a shift for the cause for 90 minutes. Not a criticism of Kempy per se, just an observation of the whole.
