Things we learnt today!

Can’t have Dan Kemp as Free kick, corner taker……Should have gone that extra mile to have kept Harvey White.
Mcguiness is Matt Phillips Mark 2.
Poor tactics. 90% of our attacks are Ariel. Not going to cut any ice over the whole season.
Manager waited miles to long to change it up. At 55-60 minutes there was only one winner, Hello. Should of change it up then.

1st half was fairly even. Oxford are another of those teams with 2 tricky wingers but little else. Saxon get forwards a lot and got in some good positions. Thought we actually tried to play some neat football 1st half. Jasper's injury seemed to change everything positive we had done up to that point. Shape changed and Phillips found himself out wide. I would have kept 5 3 2 but put Phoenix as Right wing back. 2nd half we faded badly and resorted to launching it. We never retained possession like we did 1st half. Revs was way too slow to react after they scored. We completely lacked any cohesion 2nd half. There was only going to be one winner at thst point. Kemp is anonymous when we play hoof ball. I know BGR gets a lot of stick but we failed to get to the bye line and deliver anything dangerous for him to feed off. Magennis is a poor man's Phillips. We need to continue with 2 up front but have to be way better in the final third. Defensively we are pretty sound, playing a 5 3 2. TVC covers for Pidges lack of pace. The midfield is a worry as it offers little to no creativity.

We are massively lacking someone who can pass effectively in centre midfield. That's a key position and while Phillips and Thompson have many talents, neither are that type of player. Not everyone rated White but he could at least move the ball around - Taylor might offer that but if we're planning to rely on a base of Thompson and Phillips then we will struggle to play anything other than hoofball.
That's the biggest issue - lack of pace is another. Without Phoenix playing we essentially have none - really hoping we bring in another winger or wide player before the end of the window

Looking at those highlights (that's all I've seen), Pidge still looks well off the pace.

Very strange to see him beaten to an aerial ball for their first. For the penalty he made the wrong decision for sure. Got sucked into the hall rather than dropping off when TVC lost out to their player. TVC himself also shouldn’t have been sucked into the ball in the first place there.
Couple of aberrations. Wouldn’t say he’s off the pace. Uncharacteristic errors.

Lay off McGuiness. Buy your own.

Phoenix had been the designated set piece taker but obviously didn't start today. You would think professional footballers could take set pieces. (I didn't go today so can't give an opinion on Kemp).

We were talking about this at the game. You’d think most players in the third tier could put in a half decent set piece. And use their weak foot. And not be afraid to put a cross into the box. Or run (in some cases in particular).

Magennis and Matt Phillips are completely different footballers.

Totally agree other than the ages or there about , for a start one is a winger.BTW on that score would be nice to get a glimpse of Campbell at some point.
