Good luck to him. Another signing blighted by injuries that did not work out, but were signs of a decent player back end of 24/25 season.

I’d argue there were no signs of a decent player, good luck to him though, can’t fault the work rate.

I agree, Tyreece just needed a short spell in the first team to get tuned in. Dare I open a can of worms?...BGR seems to be untouchable in the squad and goes absent for games on end...how different is that to giving these youngsters game time to settle in? Then...who knows...these youngsters could turn into little gems. We always tend to go for older players as a safe bet with no real sell on value (a couple of exceptions granted).

Edit:- Colchester fans loved Tyreece and wanted him back this season.

He's probably League 2 level at the moment and the squad already has a couple of "potential" strikers in Malcolm and Sanderson.

Sanderson had a decent goal return last season too, albeit 2 levels below.

Reid is always going to be first choice as long as he scores 10+ league goals a season.

And that is the story of mediocre football. I would say a 10 goal a season forward is bang on average. Put on Malcolm and/or Sanderson and if they couldn't score 10 in a season I would eat my hat.

Surely Revs sees his ability on the training ground though. He had a nasty injury which hindered his progress, but he was far from being capable at this level.

He showed PASHUN vs Wrexham though.

The trouble with any strikers we play is that they live off scraps. It's probably that BGR could score more if he had more chances created for him

I completely agree. The main problem in this team is chance creation, not goals, which has been an issue since our League Two promotion season. It is the thing that even makes our wins feel boring and/or stressful, as we can nab the odd goal but for the vast majority of the game it feels like we get into the opposition's final third and run out of ideas, leading to a tame shot or a hopeful cross into the box towards Jamie Reid, who isn't the type of player to challenge aerially against a centre back (imagine him trying to get something out of Piergianni or Charlie Goode!).

Reid isn't entirely blameless though, I wasn't bothered when he missed that open goal against Colchester mainly because I expected him to miss. We don't see what happens in training, but he must be banging them in to have gotten this amount of blind trust when he goes through his 2-3 month drought every season.

I saw a post somewhere which summed it up nicely: "We've had 4 years, so 8 transfer windows, and our manager still thinks our best front two is Reid & Roberts. Someone has done an awful job somewhere for that to be the case."

It does make you wonder what tactics they practice in training?
I would guess that BGR would be up against Pidge and Goode (when Goode was with us) in their attack v defence training. So can only assume he shows everything needed to be chosen for the first team squad. Here's a big BUT....a competitive match is completely different to training where defences step up a gear and maybe BGR isn't quite able to. Sometimes matches are won or lost by small margins and that is why I would rather see youngsters step up and give that extra oomph that could make the difference. I would say we have nothing to lose but all to gain.
