Teams next season
Views: 932
So with that we now know the full list of teams we'll be playing next season.
Any thoughts on our chances and any away days or home games anyone is particularly looking forward to?
AFC Wimbledon, Barnsley, Blackpool, Bradford City, Bromley, Burton Albion, Cambridge United, Doncaster Rovers, Huddersfield Town, Leicester City, Leyton Orient, Luton Town, Mansfield Town, MK Dons, Notts County, Oxford United, Peterborough United, Plymouth Argyle, Reading, Sheffield Wednesday, Stockport County, Wigan Athletic, and Wycombe Wanderers.
Personally I'll be almost certainly travelling down for the away games at Sheffield Wednesday, Leicester City, and then any others I can make it down.
Playing Cambridge and Oxford makes me oddly nostalgic for our Conference days.
I'd absolutely take a mid-table finish just below or just inside the top half.
Despite the heady heights we hit this season we've got to keep grounded and give Revell the patience he needed. I was, admittedly, concerned mid season by our drop off, but was impressed how we rallied.
I am, however, concerned that if we can't bring in someone to start increasing our goal tally a little we'll be in danger of slipping into a relegation fight next season (though I couldn't see us going down).
Let's be fair to the team and not demand the absolute world from them off the back of this season.
We are still punching so far above our weight.

Oxford should start with -10 for having their ground 5 miles from the nearest station

I've been to Oxford stadium about 4 times but never actually been to Oxford (the nice part). So depending when we play them might have to book overnight and do some sight seeing.

Few more local teams down the road from me MK Dons and Oxford.
Hopefully we can make a few key purchases get an out an out goal scorer, bolster the midfield get some goals, I think we could get playoffs again. No point aiming for less. Finishing above Luton would be nice again.
Also looking forward to Leicester and suppose I better make the expedition to Plymouth at some point

FFS why would you 'absolutly take' a mid-table finish before a ball has been kicked when we have just made the playoffs? I'm sure Revs and Phil wouldn't. We look to kick on, not kick back.

Because of our resources and the team we have.
I'm not saying we won't push for the playoffs again, I'm just having reasonable expectations from a squad that played out of their skin this season.
If we start demanding or expecting a top 6 finish, is that reasonable? Look at the other sides in this league, look at two of the sides coming down.
We punch above our weight, but no one looks at the plucky underdogs and expects them to conquer the world.
I am so bloody proud of what this team did this season, but that doesn't mean I suddenly expect and demand the world from us.
I'd absolutely take a mid-table finish. I'd quietly hope and dream of better.

I'm with you on this.
Why put any pressure on Revs and the team this coming season as there was little pressure this season and look where it took us. Some of the same next season and see where it takes us.
Oh, and let's not forget, we will be hugely punching above our weight again. How about enjoying the successes and not getting too down when things don't go too well.

Depends on investment.
And retention.
If Phil pumps in another million or so id hope to push for top 6 again.
But im with you, that's a hope. A target Phil will set Revell and the squad.
Another season where we finish comfortably in L1 is my expectation and I'd be happy to take mid-table with a bit of flirting in the top third throughout the season.
Oh and a half decent cup run.
Edit: It's weird that I suggest Wallace has to sink a million plus into little Stevenage and no-o e even raises an eyebrow. Shows how much lower league football has changed. (But I bet people still moan when he bungs an extra couple of quid on ticket prices and an extra £30 on season tickets)

Chuds must have a bit under the mattress from taking the bookies to the cleaners every season.
Could be our new celebrity owner.
