Read by today clubs have to have submitted to FA list of retained/released plus told the players although do not have to publish to outside.Asse exemption for play off finalists.

How does that work for teams still in the playoffs.
I'd have thought it was more likely to be end of May.

Don't contracts run till end of June as a rule. So with a 28 day notice period the end of May/start of June makes sense, altho' most players will obv know well beforehand.

Yes and as I said assume play off finalists exempt from rule. Also think if a released player does not find a club before season starts we have to pay them still to 30/8 even though contract has run out.

Keep:
Jack Taylor
Luther
Butler
Pidge
Saxon
Goode ( if possible)
Freestone
Pattenden
Kemp
Louis Thompson
Joe Knight
Jordan Roberts
Reid
Patterson
Campbell
Move on/sell:
Marschall - sell if good money comes in, I trust our recruitment especially in goalkeeping department our last few have been excellent.
Taye - will want first team football I assume
Sweeney - again, good player but I think it’s time to part ways
Harvey White - don’t really see the hype, decent player, poor set pieces last few weeks and most the season
Houghton - sell, not lived up to expectations, very disappointing.
Phillips - sell, good player but for a substantial bid I’d cash in.
Simpson - Loan, perhaps give pre season see how his injury has affected him.
Malcolm - release, not good enough
Lubala - release, never really got going, does his best every game but assume he will want first team football

Ahadme is one I would take another look at depending on the injury situation. Exactly the type of player we've been missing this season and would fit in with our style of play.

On this read apparently Revs has been in contact with Cornick still since he went back.Possible we may take a punt on him ? ,Just a bit wary of getting injury prone players this includes Ahmade or keeping Simpson.

I’d think that Taye would want to have regular 1st team football (sibling rivalry as well) so would expect him to leave. But it would also be good if he stayed as we still need a back up keeper. At 18 Woodford needs to be loaned out to get the experience, which he won’t get just being a number two with us.

Re: Retain and Release

Think there was an opportunity missed not loaning Taye out for the second half of last season (maybe even this season) to get more game time into him and see if his confidence came back. He’s shown that he is a solid League One keeper in the past, I’m certain he could be again if not better.
He may be happy being a career back up keeper now of course. If he is then we could do much worse.

He did not imo need any confidence back , no real howlers etc, just two decent keepers in squad.

Play Woodford in the pizza cup and he'll learn.
Coupled with fulltime training alongside senior L1 professionals, got to be better than being first choice at a part time tinpot club training twice a week for an hour and a half, with a plumber, a postie, decorator and a PE teacher in front of you.

In full agreement with the exception of Simpson, who I would be tempted to give another go to and see how he reacts to returning from his injury, if on a decent deal in our favour because pace is one of his strengths (and boy do we need some of that) and he may have lost a touch of that as a result.
Edit: Houghton has easily been the biggest disappointment this season. Came with such high regard from Plymouth, but we just haven't seen anything beyond a wholly average midfielder, who at times has not even been as good as average.

I'd keep Simpson too, he did show some improvement in the last few games before getting injured and scored a great finish in the Vertu trophy (I think). Looking at some of the more prolific strikers in the FL in recent years, a lot of them have had good seasons off the back of not doing much previously, and I think there's a player in there somewhere, assuming the injury hasn't wrecked him, as you said

It’s difficult to really tell who of our attackers are really geared up for success. We need to see some evolution in terms of our playing style if we want to get anything from a striker.
We ask our players to sacrifice so much of themselves for the benefit of our defence that we’re often out of position when we break, leading players to bust their guts only to run out of puff and fizzle out the attack.
It works for 45 minutes but not a whole game.

So it wasn't to be. No shame in that. Definitely need to bolster the attack this off season. We need goals. Everywhere else we seem solid.
To go
Reid (If we can get money)
D. Phillips (To create a transfer budget for Revs)
M. Phillips (Really has to offer more in the box if we were to keep him)
Tay (Needs 1st team football somewhere)
White (Never really rated him as highly as some. Set piece delivery is pretty poor)
Goode (If he gets a better offer - Would like to keep him)
Lubala (Don't think it will happen)
Malcolm (Took a chance on him, but couldn't even get into Barrows team regularly - Says it all)
Simpson (Not a League 1 player)
Sweens (Will want 1st team football I imagine)
Roberts (Best days are behind him)
Need
3 Strikers - Ready for League 1 football.
A Creative midfielder
A Defensive midfielder
Another 1 or 2 central defenders (Subject to Goode)

M. Roberts

Taye
Sweeney
J. Roberts
Butler (if all of the above are happy being back up players going forward. Get the impression they’re big parts of the culture we’re trying to cultivate)
Reid (probably under contract. Would keep as a back up but also if we receive an offer I’d consider it)
Everyone else we keep. Hopefully White and Goode can be convinced to stay. The mission is to add some players who can help us transition quickly. If we can add goals without compromising defensively we will be dangerous.
Last night is fresh in the mind and disappointing but it’s been a very good season for the club. We have to build on that not knock it down and start again because of one knockout tie.

Id like to think we can keep Goode if on improved terms. He did come to us injury prone and as it stand it’s looks like we’re really able to get the best out of him physically.
Would also add Roberts to the “to go” list. Terrific on his day but for a team that presses from the front he’s just not agile enough. I think if Reid Roberts and Phillips were all 2 years younger we’d probably look slightly different.
I’d also be inclined to move Butler on as both Freestone + Earley are proven LBs. Incredible servant for us but it’s his time I think.
Would be interesting to see what comes of Joe & Jack the young blood signed in Jan. we paid money so assume there’s some potential there to show its face possibly.

He’s not but while Pidge is still in the team he’s not getting a look in at LCB.
I also think his performances at left back have been stellar when faced with strong opposition. He doesn’t require as much defensive protection from whoever is in front of him. He doesn’t as much going forward, given.
