Is there prize money for making the playoffs, making the final, or just winning the final?
(Obv gate receipt share and extra TV money will be nice but actual EFL cash prizes)
And do the winning club 'gift' their gate receipts to the losing club from the final. I know it has happened before but is it still an informal thing?

Dunno if it has changed but always used to be the four clubs got 12.5% each of total gate receipts across the four SF matches (so Bolton and Bradford being in is good news for us), with the two finalists getting 25% each of the final gate receipts. The EFL get the other 50% in both scenarios (again, Bolton or Bradford is good news if we make it).
Promotion would be worth about another £11mil in revenue for the winning club just from centralised payments, plus about £3-4mil from the TV deal.
Edit: No prizemoney that I am aware of.

Is that £12m for a season in the championship, and the parachute payments for a couple of seasons after relegation to pay off those higher contracts needed?

Clubs relegated from Champ only get parachute payment for one season, and it is only 11.1% of the badic payment. So only about a mil.

If we did make it up why not just ride out the season, use it to develop the squad, and avoid any unnecessary extra spending in the Championship.
Yeah we'd be relegated but I can't see how we'd survive if we did make it up.
Take the novelty, the experience, and the money, then come back down and stabilise as a strong playoff regular in League One.

Cheers.
So, assuming we don't have to spend a fortune on infrastructure just yet we could, IF we go up give our core squad of 22 odd an average of half million per player pay rise (per annum).
Assuming we dont spunk it all on buying Gary Goals and journeymen free agent signing-on fees.
The extra advertising, sponsor and ticket revenue (prices will go up 25% at a guess) can pay for Gary Goals.
