We should give Stockport a 3-0 walkover in shame.

Lots of new grounds to visit and avoiding trips to Birmingham all the time as always seems to be the case in the Southern Prem.

Club has confirmed that all STH tickets (terrace and seats) were ringfenced and that only STH can buy tickets for the next 24 hours now until the original 4pm Tuesday deadline, at which point any remaining all go on general sale.

4000 tickets sold in three hours.

It should have been made clearer from the off, the club will probably have discovered this and will do so next time, but it is now very clear the situation and confirms that NO STH will miss out if they wish to attend.

Makes you wonder what the Season Ticket Holders who "couldn't get one" were doing....

The club obviously underestimated the speed of demand, as we don't usually sell that quickly, so whilst Season Ticket Holders had their tickets ringfenced and were never at risk, they couldn't get on to buy them because of the general demand and the website not being able to cope with high volume of traffic.

So they're now just allowing season ticket holders to log on and get theirs.

STHs never needed to panic but fans need more than "please be assured" when they start panicking. So hopefully learnt in future have to explain in more detail so people don't worry.

Cup priority is a listed benefit. Quite surprised playoff priority wasn't negotiated, or if it was, the club decided not to agree to it.

I'd imagine it simply wasn't thought about but I'm sure someone on the committee can confirm/correct.

I make it an average of 3,388 home fans at our league games this season - I'd be very surprised if (on average) 2,400ish match tickets were bought for every game. No idea what the number of season ticket holders might be though - 1,500 might be more in the right ballpark?

Stockport away tickets

Whether we’ll sell all 1k tickets is debatable, however I do hope the club sort the ticketing issues out because today was a free for all and that cannot ever happen again.

You didn’t even have to prove you were a season ticket holder to buy today and is a massive worry for future games if this is the standard the club has set and cannot distinguish between someone who has a season ticket and who has been to 1 game all season.

I hope the club come out on Monday and make a proper statement on what went wrong today. Because it’s not right.

You should take off the rose tinted glasses. Not everything in life is perfect as you’ve just stated yourself.

God forbid people who’ve gone to most games this season want an easier way to buy tickets instead of being stuck in a queue for 5 hours.

If you don’t highlight the issues nothing improves.

Or should I and everyone else pretend that the release of tickets yesterday went brilliantly?

I missed out. I have only been to 3 home games this season and 11 away games. Watch about 20 games on Sky Sports though 🤣

How many points would I have if we had a points based system I wonder? Interestingly for the away leg, Bradford give priority to points earners ahead of STHs.

In any event, I wasn't planning on going as it's on TV and not a must win game, owing to the second leg.

Did it go wrong?

STH have 48 hours to secure their attendance. Everybody else doesn't have priority. Club has acted perfectly reasonably there. I suppose there could have been a 24 hour window for just STH to buy, to try to reduce the queuing, but with the game being in under a week the club obviously decided they didn't want to delay general sale too long (or release them during the working week).

The only slight issue is the queueing on the website, but that happens for organisations far far bigger than us whose whole existence is to sell tickets, and as has been said in this thread is something that happens once every few seasons for us. It really isn't a massive deal and people should be focusing on the joy and success that we are in this position rather than bitching at the club about minor issues because they haven't been able to do so about our results lately.

It’s not that hard to get your head around what the club are doing. ST holders have their tickets reserved for 48 hours but tickets are also on general sale. So if you’re a ST holder and try to get a ticket in that first period you will get one. If that period lapses then it’s a free for all. Why this way rather than a ST only sale window first? We’ve only got a week to shift the tickets and it is a huge chance for the club to make money on feel good factor and impulse buys.

Loyal fans should get first refusal sure, but money from anyone is money in for the club.

The only issue has been the long waiting times. Frustrating but it is what it is. If the club can learn from it going forward then great. So long as fans can get their tickets it’s part of life.

At present, perhaps, which is an annoyance, but EVERY STH will have the opportunity to buy a ticket by Tuesday afternoon, so they will not miss out if they want one.

Absolutely this should have been made clearer for terrace STH at the start to save them (needlessly) worrying they won't get a ticket, and a window for just STH to start would have made most sense. But if we did that there would be some who couldn't get on in that time who would then complain, and it would have reduced the time available to sell tickets as we don't have long until the match (and I don't think anybody expected such high demand for them to sell this rapidly).

Beyond ensuring STH get a ticket, I don't see how we can fairly prioritise people.

We have 7000 tickets to sell. Regardless of the system it should not require a 4 hour wait to book one. If we had a 60000 seater stadium I could maybe understand it, but we don't. And I know season ticket holders who have logged on this morning and been told there are no tickets left - so yes, it has gone wrong at a fundamental level.

I appreciate you trying to make this a positive place and defend the club from some of the ridiculous negativity over the season, but if we can't discuss the odd occasion (like this) when the club has done things badly, what's the point in the forum? This is not a minority view - none of our fans that invest in season tickets, going to away games regularly should be made to queue for 4 hours, it's incredibly basic marketing and customer management. There is one thing sticking up for the club and another blindly defending them

Two times I remember physically queueing for tickets. Probably more but I only remember two right now

First was 1998 for the Newcastle tickets. Queueing around the stadium, then through a turnstile to buy the ticket and exited through the ground, remember seeing or going in the temporary away stand on the way out.

And then the other year when we did £99 season tickets for a limited number so turned up at about 7am and stood in a queue of about 50 people for an hours until they opened the club shop 🤣. Don't think I even needed to do that as I was a bondholder anyway.

For the second one, you didn't. I was a Bondholder and didn't queue.

Now I am a Bondholder with Bolton, hoping to cash in my 10% promotion bonus on them if we don't go up.

Did they log in to the account they bought their season ticket with and then go to buy the tickets, or just go to the ticket section without logging in?

Assuming they have, and it's not just user error (like some of my clients are work when they ring up telling me something isn't working) then yes that's unacceptable and definitely contact the club to resolve/complain.

I do feel the club could provide clearer instructions at times, an "idiots guide" step by step on things like this rather than just generic statements with no details of the process.

You have to log in to buy tickets. Your log in is linked to your season ticket. Tickets for Season Ticket holders have been reserved for 48 hours. Ergo, if you logged in only you could buy your own seat and if an East Terrace STH you would be guaranteed to be able to buy a ticket.

The only thing that was inconvenient was that so many were trying to log on at the same time that the site couldn't handle the traffic. And seemingly random as to how long you had to wait. But there was never any danger that STHs wouldn't get a ticket.

(That's how I've interpreted today and the information provided by the club anyway)

The fact you have to interpret it suggests it's not been explained very well.

On the system now it says there are no tickets left, even for accounts linked to a season ticket. It is genuinely impressive how badly the club have managed this

Have they? It could have been explained better in the correspondence (for terrace people, perfectly happy and clear for my North ST) for sure, but every STH has a 48 hour window to secure their attendance if they want to go. Seems pretty fair to me.

Edit: Now the terrace is sold out, I am sure the terrace tickets that had been held back will be released, but only available to those with a ST, so anybody in the terrace with a ST who doesn't yet have one, can do so.

You could have bought one when they were available over the last day, or could grab one of the ~30 remaining on the front row of the main right now, but other than that the only seats remaining are those with a ST who haven't yet purchased, so would only become available on Tuesday afternoon if not bought, on a first come basis.

Katie has been in the queue on 2 devices for about 4 hours. Just got hers.

System works. Just slower than it should. Its not like we have 900,000 trying to get tickets like Glastonbury do the minute sales open.

But equally, i'm reasonably confident once the initial surge slows people will be able to buy tomorrow.

And the last thing the club want to do is spend money on data handling surge capacity it's unlikely to need again in a hurry.

Good.luck all of ya!

I am impressed and annoyed in equal measure.

Impressed by how easily we regularly (nearly) sell out the ground for big games nowadays, and by how clearly the demand is now there. Look at Orient and Grimsby in L2, Cambridge, Luton and Wigan, and now this, in L1, taking thousands to Villa and Stoke etc.

But annoyed that if there are that many people who will come and watch us for a big game, why more don't do so more frequently throughout the season. That is the only way we as a club can truly push on.

The Barnsley game really surprised me - not in a good way - at the turnout and how poor it was considering our league position. As said elsewhere, getting those people who come to the odd game to attend more often will be a huge difference maker for us in the long term, but a big chunk of our fanbase seems very flakey

Cos there will be season ticket holders always there, a core who go to nearly every match, then probably a couple of thousand interchangeable who prob go 8 to 10 games but cant commit to a season ticket. Get all those couple of thousand together and you get a sell out, plus the people who never go except for glory days

That last lot is more than a couple of thousand. More like 10-15,000 who have an interest in us, but have busy lives and other priorities, but go occasionally and when it comes to the big games will make the effort to be there.
It's not really a surprise, its the same for virtually everything in life, not everyone is a superfan of everything, but has a passing interest in the big things. Compare athletics meets every summer to when the Olympics was on, Glastonbury to all other music festivals which struggle to sell tickets, happens at every football club up and down the land.

These are the games where people who attend casually get the bug and become regulars.

Nice that season ticket holders get first refusal but they also have a duty to make those who don’t attend weekly feel welcome when they do attend. We’re all custodians of the club and it’s a great club to be a supporter of.

It’s only a small, small number who turn up and act like tits. Regardless of whether they have an affiliation to any other side every club is unfortunate enough to have them turn up at their games sometimes and act like morons. Perhaps after getting sparked out the lad who ran on the pitch on Saturday will think twice before thinking he’s an extra in Green Street again.

Controversial but Wallace would probably get more benefit from allowing the johnny-come-latelies to secure tickets to big games than prioritising the die-hard fans.

The die-hards will be at 90% of games even if they miss out on the odd big game. Wallace doesn't need to look after them that much its already in their blood.

The floaters are more likely to get hooked if they get to experience some big game atmosphere and tension.

(I'm not suggesting this is what happened btw)

Season ticket holder and currently in the queue online for 5 hours and 33 mins….

I know it’s a big game but no way should it be taking this long.

Depends whether you are in the seats or the terrace.

If you have a seat, it is held until 4pm on Tuesday.

STH have a 24 hour priority window for away tickets, which go on sale on Tuesday morning.

Explicitly *not* what the chap from the ticket office told me Chuds. They're holding back the number of ET tickets equivalent to our ET STHs for 48 hours. Have you heard differently from an official source?

The article on the website, which makes no mention of any STH priority, beyond seats being held for 48 hours.

If the terrace is also being held, it should be made clear as people without are going to be trying to buy and getting annoyed (may be why it keeps resetting if those without a ST are tying to purchase).

Outrageous if true because it clearly states in the terms and conditions of the season ticket that holders get priority cup and playoff tickets. If any season ticket holder misses out over some day tripping gloryhunter they have every right to be incredibly angry

bcb1994...I'd encourage you to read my other messages on this thread. I don't work for the club, but I did speak to someone who does! I've explained what they told me. They *have* thought about how to ensure every ET STH can buy a ticket!

I did find it weird it wasn't stated in the article of what Clogger said above was true, but have no reason to think he(she?) would make it up.

Suspect crossed wires somewhere, either in what has been relayed to them, or that something should have been set up on the ticketing site and hasn't been.

Am sure the club has received plenty of contact about the situation, and those people who would need to know about it have been informed, so nobody with a ST will miss out, but from here it does seem a bit of a mess, which is a shame after yesterday.

On reflection, even if tickets on ET 'sell out' tomorrow (which I bet they won't) it'll be worth trying again after 4 pm on Tuesday, in case a small number of STHs can't attend

We obviously pay for a server that can handle X transactions at once.

Which meets our day to day needs.

One that handles several hundred at once would, I imagine, cost a lot more and not get much use at Boro.

Ooooh, I see! I think we all misunderstood your original post and took it to mean that only that number were currently on sale to buy and only for STH, but you mean that number are effectively being held back to ensure STH can get one.

For those trying, system is working at the moment (4.25 pm!) The system let me buy tickets as soon as the counter reached zero - including the "hidden" hours noted by others

(Yeah, it's all a bit chaotic, but I've got to acknowledge this is an unusual moment in our history!)

When it got down to 58 and I refreshed the page it momentarily showed "178 minutes" before going down to 58.

It's struggling to show the hours.
