Would be very disappointed if he goes there. Can’t knock someone for taking more money in what can be a very short career however. Would like to think he backs himself to play at a higher level and possibly feels loyalty to us in as much as he’d sign on for a couple of years here on the understanding that we wouldn’t stand in his way next summer if a Championship or higher club comes in with a decent offer for him. No guarantees he plays regularly if he leaves, here he’s one of the first names on the team sheet. Better the devil you know.

I’m not sure you can ask or expect any loyalty. If he gets offered a much bigger contract why would he stay? There no guarantee he gets another offer next season so I’m pretty sure most players would take the money whilst it’s there.

Any club signing him during this Summer’s transfer window would have to pay compensation as he’s not 25 until 19th September, so at least we’ll get a fee for him albeit set by tribunal if the two clubs can’t agree.
May also put some clubs off.
Edit: sorry, senior moment, compensation only payable if under 24 on June 30th of the year of contract expiry! So I got that completely wrong!😂😂
