Just checked, 2007. Oddly, it feels much longer between him leaving and the 10-11 Conference winning season for me!
The squad change between 2007-2010 was huge

I always have to remind myself that Morison wasn't part of the promotion winning side as he was our hallmark striker for a few seasons but ironically when he left we actually went up. Less reliant on one player and the whole team chipped it. Players like David Bridges who was superb and doesn't get mentioned much.

Tesco Value Moro vs. Harrods Food Hall Charlie Griffin
The unlucky ones who missed out by leaving in summer 2009 were Moro, John Martin, Calum Willock and Gary Mills.

Moro had earned his move - and maybe made us less reliant on a single goalscorer. Mills, on the other hand, went for a higher wage methinks?

Conference to League One was a big old jump back in quality then which goes to show how overpowered Morison had become for us. Looking back, I wonder whether we had to fight Gillingham off or if he was already looking above that?

Just watched Tony Adams on a brilliant podcast about booze. Realised it’s him who Charlie Goode reminds me of! More physically than anything else, but he is a quality centre half too

What was the podcast?
Edit: yes their running style, frame and even noses are remarkably similar.

I think there may be a fair bit of recency bias with this.
Obviously it's hard to compare as times move on and there's natural progression in everything. But if you account for that (like a fitness and skill inflation adjustment) the 2011-12 team comes out better IMO.
That 2011-12 team thumped Sheffield Wednesday 5-1, Rochdale 5-1, Colchester 6-1 and Yeovil 6-0 as well as plenty of ground out games like this season. And got to the 5th round of the FA Cup drawing with Spurs when they were good.
This year's team are defensively pretty similar but overall 2011-12 edges it.

Same but Darius up top
Saxon could supplant Lairdy if we get 50+ more starts out of him

Philips and Bostwick in centre mid would be terrifying for the opposition...
