Warming up for Sat by scoring 4. At least they played a day later.
Bradford won as well...

Iāve given up on the play offs, more for my mental health than anything!
The league position is great and AR deserves credit for that, but our style of football, trying to shit house EVERY game by scoring from a set piece or an opposition error I donāt think is sustainable for a 6th place finish.

Indeed Rev's deserves credit - BUT with League 1 being so poor this year, I do feel we have missed the boat somewhat. He just seems unable to take risks, everything is so dumbed down. Seems we strive not to lose, rather than go and take the game by the throat like other teams around us. We certainly have the players to do it. Really want to know why Phoenix and Chem can't even get in the match day squad. These are game changers.

Could you tell me the games Chem and Phoenix have changed please (EFL Trophy games donāt count).

Chem scored the winner at home vs Wycombe.
Opener at Stockport
2nd goal vs Luton.
All very important goals.

Chem has come on and scored and assisted a few, and is somebody I am surprised hasn't been more involved (even if off the bench) lately.
But Phoenix, bar his goal at Cardiff and having an impact off the bench in one home game, hasn't done anything in any match other than those against kids/full reserves. And is 100% not WB material as some seem desperate for. There is a place for him though, and I like that he is one of the few (along with Campbell, funnily enough) who is happy to actually run at defenders, which we should exploit late on in certain games. Hopefully with him we see the big improvement in the defensive side of the game that sees him far more involved in his second season, exactly as happened with Harvey White.

Reading Neil today, it seeks Chem has been struggling with a back injury. I would like to see Phoenix on the bench at least though. He would surely offer more than Kemp (whatever happened to last season's DK?) or the waste of space that is Jordan Roberts.

Ah okay, hadn't seen that. Makes sense for his lack of appearances then.
It really does seem that many of our fans have now fully had enough of Roberts' attitude (ability never in question, but he mostly seems he cannot be arsed). And seems Revs has too as I don't remember the last time he started a game (and I also remember back to one of the conversations I had with Revs in Spain, when we discussed Roberts and how he needed to seriously knuckle down and up his game this season).

Our league position is great but I have no desire to watch it anymore. It's so hard to explain how such a positive season can feel so miserable

I donāt get this attitude. Going to the game is not just about the football on the pitch & the style in which itās played!
Itās the whole experience. Thereās nothing better than a floodlit game on a slightly cold evening, turning up early when the floodlights are already on, the sound of music from the tannoys, the smell of onions coming from the food stand.
I go to games on my own but I know Iāll see someone I know when I get in the ground. On the very rare occasion where I donāt, I end up chatting to other people in the stands anyway.
The result is a bonus if it goes our way & if itās an exciting game, even better. I donāt expect the highest levels of skill but, as long as the players give everything, I can accept defeat.
Donāt abandon your local team when they desperately need support!

Football is shit to watch. I watch Boro because they are embedded into my soul. Any other games are just rubbish.

Football is a kids game where people chase a leather bag of air around a nicely mowed field.
How we ever formed such a deep emotional attachment is both mystifying and beautiful.

It's not, I have the luxury of watching another side when I can't watch Stevenage/ they aren't playing. They are lower in their respective table, but it's a hell of a lot more enjoyable, despite playing a fair few rungs down the pyramid.
This season has been an awful watch for the most part.

I always enjoy 'poor' football as long as we win. I usually enjoy it when we battle to a creditable draw, especially away or against 'better' teams.
Im not saying I wouldn't enjoy it more if we won playing like Barcelona. Bit it doesn't matter much to me how we play, as long as we get points. If it did id follow a bigger better team.
I hardly ever/never enjoy us losing.
I'm a simple soul.

Hmm.
As most people are probably aware, I watch both Biggleswade sides very regularly if I am not travelling to one of our away matches, or we aren't playing. They are both in the top three of their division, and both score for fun. It is different, but I wouldn't say it is more enjoyable at all. I care about both clubs and want them to succeed, but they aren't Boro' so it just isn't as enjoyable for me, even if they play more attacking football.
For me, a great part of the enjoyment is the fact it is Boro' and I care about them. More than most things. On a matchday, especially at home, I would often rather be watching Boro' than doing most other things with my time. Being at our home ground with my mates, and with those I only ever see and talk to at our home games, watching my team, united with them, it just cannot be replicated anywhere else, that connection and that feeling of watching us cannot be found anywhere else. Even if we aren't playing "exciting" stuff, so long as we are picking up results then just being there and watching us succeed, which we have done more often than not at home this season, is enjoyable and entertaining for me. But I guess others have different feelings towards us/it.

For me this is what keeps me addicted to our club. I've often thought to myself, whatever happens, I'll still be standing on the ET. It is the fans, all as one, that makes it for me. The like minded friends I've made on that terrace keep me going...and..after all of these years I still don't know their names but we are friends. Football is the catalyst but not the whole story.

The question is do we fuck off everything that's worked (up to a point) this season and try and grind our way there or just go for it and try and play with more freedom, knowing we might get battered occasionally .
I wish we could find the room to get Campbell etc. in the team just to offer us something a bit different. We might be forced to if he can't play his back 5 that he has settled on.

If Saxon is injured and with Pidge seemingly not being that good in a back 5, perhaps we will revert back to a back four with wingers

The back five imo only has value with one of our LWB options fit. Without them our attacking options are limited to winning knock-downs.

Correct. Freestone has been class this season, but good grief when he came on Tuesday at LWB....
I've seen Luther put in decent shifts on the left, in hindsight that's probably what should have happened.

Yep.
Freestone went to LB when we changed to a back four after bringing on all the offensive subs (who it turned out were offensive to watch, rather than offensive in the footballing sense).
