BGR. We are on our way. We've been the better side in this niggly match.

We're so awful to watch. Of course, our league position is brilliant for a club of our size, but it's getting to the point where I don't want to watch this anymore.
We're such a miserable watch

Indeed. Looking at the highlights of us winning 3-0 against Orient we were confident and playing with flair and accuracy. What has changed? How have the same players been embarrassed at home by the side they’d previously steam-rollered? Such a depressing watch. A good friend of mine felt ill and spent most of the match sitting down on the East Terrace staring at the legs in front of him. I repeatedly assured him during the game that he had the best view!!

Amid serious competition in the past couple of months, this was the most depressing performance of the season for me. We were gifted a penalty for a foul (it was a foul) that goes unpunished in penalty areas everywhere every week, and never really threatened again. Ballard was brilliant, but beyond that Orient looked like they wanted it more than we did and certainly played the better (only) football. Marschall, Saxon and Dan P were good, others mostly dreadful. A neutral watching that would assume we were the team fighting relegation. Even when we win it is often a tough watch. This one was enough to make anybody feel ill...

I enjoy watching us grind out wrestling matches when it works. If I hadn't trained myself to do that I wouldn't have had much to enjoy this last [checks notes] 19 years.
I dunno what happened to our more free-flowing style at home though.

Yep. Same here from the first time I saw him. Of course will make some mistakes, as they all do occasionally, but a standout, eye-catching player who never gives up. Fantastic effort.

Some of us called it on BoroPod after his first appearance.
Absolutely my favourite.
He's always going to be a fans favourite because he's so physical and energetic, compensating for his low pass completion rate and tendency to wander like a dog chasing a rugby ball.

I was critical of him last season, i didn't really see him being any more than a disruptor, e.g throw on Dan Phillips when we're backs against the wall with 30 to go away from home etc.
But, he's added so much more to his game this season. Even picking up goals and assists!
It'll be a massive loss if we do lose him, White and Goode all at the end of the season.

I'm really not that fussed about losing White or Goode tbh. We can find similar pretty easily I would have thought.
Phillips is a bit more unique and harder to replace and certainly fits in with the style of football we play. I've actually grown to like him, despite the shortcomings, although he needs to be in a midfield 3 with someone behind and in front of him.

It is quite possible Dan Phillips could get lured away. Mind you, I thought we would lose Dan Kemp in the last transfer window...how wrong was I.
Revs seems to have something unique about him in the way he handles players. It seems that he knows when and how to put an arm around a player and when to give them a boot up the backside... both of these traits are rarely seen together in other managers.
Revs honesty and integrity plus Boro's outstanding training facilities in Stevenage will be hard to beat.
I really hope we can hang on to him.

Big difference being that Kemp was still in contract.
If Phillips was intending to stay, he would have signed an extension by now.

I didn't realise that.
Well, let's just hope he's currently showing our management what he's capable of. Maybe the contract on the table, before he really came into his own, was not quite what he had wished for. Grabbing at straws I know, but I really hope we can keep him.

That's a proper professional performance.
The league two-ist of league one games, proper head tennis, no first touch and shit ref affair in front of 3,100 odd fans but never really looked like losing.
Dan P and his thunder thighs were excellent again. Pattenden and Earley very solid at WB.
Pidge won every challenge baroness, and gladly took a yellow to stop that.
Solid, ugly at times, performance
Right, that's the away losing streak ended.
Play-offs here we come.

Scored in nine consecutive matches.
Two home matches coming up next, where we have won four straight.
Playoffs entirely in our own hands with just 12 matches left.

Do you think Burton were shit, or did we just make them look shit?
Felt like we showed them too much respect in the second half and it made for a nervy last few minutes, but we got the job done. A much needed 3 points away from home and two home games to come...

Re: Match thread. Boro won 1-0

Not a clue, I wasn't there.
But we have made many of the top sides look shit when we have played them, unless it is just coincidence that they all have off days whenever they play us, and Revs is the luckiest manager in the league. Whatever the reason, it is a good thing.
And as I said in the score prediction thread, Burton have dealt with some very good sides at home recently, so we needed to be wary/respectful of their threat, and I would imagine after a long run of away defeats we did probably sit back a but more than we would have liked towards the end, subconsciously, plus with them being the home side and needing to push for an equaliser.
Today was 100% about ending the away run of defeats, even if only getting a draw, and nothing about the performance, which was wholly secondary. So from that point of view, job done. We ended the run of defeats away, and got our first clean sheet in five matches, our longest streak of the season. So very much a good day's work.

They were definitely crap, because the number of miscontrolled balls, passes out of play and spooning shots. To some extent that might be by being hurried by the likes of Phillips but not all.
I think late on, I agree with the observation, but partly due to them pushing many more forward, so we had to have bodies back to cope with their 4 up front! We had chances on the break and Matt Phillips really should have scored in second half by took an extra touch allowing the keeper to close him down.
Good performance though. The way Revs likes to approach it, a low risk solid organised performance, ensuring you don't concede and looking to take the chances as they come.

They were but they have some good players. None that I'd have in our starting 11. But i thought it was a proper old fashioned Stevenage away performance. Should have been 2 and all the nerves would have gone. Apart from the free kick I never thought they would score.
Pidge magnificent today and Jasper was proper on it. Saxon, Luther and Charlie were very good. One shot on target and Fil winding up the home crowd. What's not to like...?

Does Vancooten play for them? Is he a mercenary or does he come from around there? Or does he now get paid less and play for a shit team? I don’t know. I remember he left, and it sort of seemed like a decent move???? I’m confused
