Funny how so many on here were slating the signing a few weeks into the season.
Has always been great for us so glad he’s having an injury free run. Long may that continue.

Wait till he gets a knock that puts him out for a month, like most players get every now and again, they'll all be back with their "I told you so" hats on.

Couldn't agree more. Sax was great - so determined and focussed in his defending. It's actually a total joy to see Sax making it back to form and fitness at our club. Symbiotic! Just a lovely fit

Think it helps that we are where he's had his longest run of games, in both spells. He's a very Stevenage player

Thought the back 5 played very well on the whole. We were far to passive 1st half, and allowed them to dictate the game. 2nd half we really pressed high up the pitch, and got our reward. Excellent tackle by Harvey that led to the winner. Looked a different team. If only we would play that way for 90 minutes. Starting to see a partnership forming between Reidy & Phillips.
I would like to see us play 1 DM at home with creative players either side.
Other than that, we move on to Burton - Won't be easy !!

Our back five didn't play well. Saxon did. And Pidge. And Marschall made one very good save.
But...
Goode couldn't pass for toffee all game.
Jasper was run ragged first half.
Luther was rusty and gave the ball away a lot.
Our right side was woeful first half.
Better second half but take off those rose coloured specs.

Goode has been shit the past month (gave away a penalty at Northampton, gifted Huddersfield a goal they fortunately didn't take, and was awful today, just for starters) yet people always ignore that because he isn't Sweeney, and make out he is the most amazing defender in the world.
It's weird.

I'm far from a fan of Charlie but thought he had a very solid game today. In fact I'd argue it may have been one of, if not his best game for us. Did everything you would want him to (defensively). He isn't a ball playing defender and should never be asked to be. I thought he looked better in the middle of the 3 and could be seen more in the mould of Pidge than Sweeney.

I would have to agree, today especially, he didn't miss one defensive header. Very similar to Pidge, very solid today.
As for Saxon, crikey, he was definitely my MOM...outstanding performance, gave 100% and he, like Goode, didn't bottle any challenge and came out top every time. As for Matt Phillips, he deserved that goal...everyone was so happy for him including Revs...the smiles told the whole story.
A very good day at the office. Well done Boro.

Goode isn't afraid to take a risk. It's needed with Pidge and Luther who are very safe. Freestone too. He'll have off days but he's still a quality player for this level. I really hope he does sign a new contract.
We're blessed to have a whole range of quality defenders. The first half yesterday was an enslaught from Stockport and we went in at half time 1-1 because, we're flippin good at defending!

Agree re Goode but he has a recent extended bad spell which sure he is aware of. Re new contract depends what we offer he will want at least 2 yrs., but again could we might just get ourpriced but the bigger budgets lot.

Goode has simply seen the standard that is deemed acceptable when Sweeney plays and adjusted accordingly.

Yeah, largely agree with this. Pidge, Sax superb. Charlie had an utter stinker on the ball, but tbf defended doggedly when required. Luther not as composed as normal. Think they targeted Jasper a fair bit, but he stuck at it. (Was worried we'd see Jasper give another penalty away...)

Agree and let's hope he can stay injury free. He has had enough bad luck.
