If you'd taped the rugby you could rewatch England's victory 😉

Nice and early!
Thameslink gonna be making £££ with all the pointless train journeys people have made to Stevenage tonight.
As if they sponsor the club or something.

So do I...bad enough me walking 2.5miles to the ground and finding out near B&Q. Those poor buggers travelling all this way. My son just bought a ticket at 18.34 DISGRACE!!!!

Yes, I too feel for the fans who have travelled and it does make us look very tinpot even though the ref makes the call. I’m hugely frustrated from 2 miles away, so for those travelling from Barnsley it must be infuriating.

Sure, however the least the club can do is communicate to fans that there’s a pitch inspection. They would know it’s happening ahead of time. Takes 5 seconds to post it on socials.

It strikes me that there was no pitch inspection planned. It's not like when it's frozen or snowing and you plan an inspection. Its like when there is torrential rain and a game is called off at half time. It's just this happened to be around 5-6pm by which time most would have been well on their way anyway.

Maybe, still comes across like poor communication from the club imo

Neil M was tweeting about pitch inspections 50 mins before the club announced it was off. Surely they could tweet something similar

Re: Game Off!

At 5pm there was no need or thought for an inspection as its been fairly dry the last couple of days. And even when it started hooning it down around 5 they'd have thought it will pass and be fine by kick off. Clearly after 90 mins of torrential rain the ref didn't think it would recover

THEY SHOULD HAVE KNOWN AND TOLD US THIS MORNING!
Also,
FINE THE CLUB FOR CALLING IT OFF AND REIMBURSE THE AWAY FANS' TRAVEL.
(even though it's the referee in discussion with both clubs that makes the final decision)

Yeah really poor. Not to give notice of a pitch inspection.

There wasn't an inspection. There was a huge downpour and when the ref turned up said it was unplayable and called it off.
Maybe our ground staff could have indicated that there was a potential problem but before the deluge it was playable this afternoon.

Consecutive seasons we have called the match off as Barnsley fans all arrived, without prior notice.
I know it is the ref who calls it off, but that is very poor.
Edit: That being said, if they didn't call off the original tie because of a few international call-ups like little fucking pussies, then tonight wouldn't have happened, so fuck 'em.

Not really sure you can blame anyone. It was absolutely hammering down earlier. The referee can only make a decision once they’ve inspected the pitch & I don’t imagine they got the ground very early.
It’s a pain in the arse, especially as I’ve travelled from Berkshire but it can’t be helped. Player & supporter safety has to come first.

The club has failed at basic communication.
They’re all about the carabao drinks and Vertu trophy sponsorship posts on social media they have to do for the EFL. But god forbid they have to update fans on a pitch inspection

Re: Game Off!

They DID update the fans! The referee called the game off. Maybe the club were hopeful it could go ahead. It didn’t really rain until 5pm & it then poured for over an hour. I fail to see why the club is being blamed for the freak weather

Don’t you think it was rather Machiavellian of the club? To make Barnsley travel when they knew FULL WELL it was going to shit down at 6pm and the ref would call it off? I mean it’s just delicious stuff from everyone at the club! The rascals!
