Why ?
Why do we just pass to the full backs, boot it up field for non-existent wingers to follow ? A very Evans strategy that worked until we were found out. As a season ticket holder for over twenty years, this is one of the poorest seasons that I have witnessed. For the first time I am definitely thinking of not renewing next season. Very sad as Boro has been a part of mine and my son's life for a long time.

Oh come on, anybody who claims they have had a ST for 20 years but this is the FIRST time they have considered not renewing is either lying or exaggerating for impact, or has simply forgotten a lot of the past 20 years!
At home this season we are W6 D6 L1. Won almost half of our matches and only lost once, and we have had some enjoyable performances as well, alongside the results, it really hasn't all been shit or a grind. Including our most recent one, and although Peterborough may have been poor and missing some players, they are 10th in the league and put six past Wigan yesterday so let's not pretend it was a walkover.
I am not making out it is fun right now (mostly away from home), but our first L1 season under Evans for instance, the football wasn't exactly exciting and we went 10-8-5 at home, so on a par with now. In 2020/21 and 2021/22 we lost just one match fewer than we won at home, in 2019/20 we went 2-6-9 at home, in 2013/14 we went 7-5-11. In almost every season in the last 20 years our home form (and performances) have been no or little better than now, and often quite a bit worse.
We are on a shit run, we are struggling and not playing well, but if anybody has genuinely had a ST for 20 years and this is the first time in that time they are claiming they won't renew, with us sitting just outside the L1 playoffs and having lost just once at home all season (and having won almost 50% of matches), when in previous seasons we have been truly abysmal, getting walloped every week and facing relegation out of the FL whilst winning only twice at home all this season, than that to me is, frankly, bullshit.

I think it being a bit of a shit league this year is contributing to people's feelings. We're producing grey muck against other grey muck. Maybe the football we're producing is relegation worthy but there are lots of other sides more relegation worthy. There's no urgency about our poor form which makes it feel like a trap.

2019/20.
Stevenage 0-0 Crawley
Stevenage 1-5 Crewe
Stevenage 0-0 FGR
Stevenage 0-0 Colchester
Stevenage 0-1 Port Vale
Stevenage 0-0 Oldham
Stevenage 1-2 Plymouth
Stevenage 0-3 Leyton Orient
Stevenage 0-1 Salford.
That is how we ended the season. Four 0-0s, and five defeats. Scored twice in nine matches. Against teams like Crawley, Crewe, FGR and Salford.
And people are claiming this is worse? HAHAHAHAHA!
Edit: Again, I am not claiming everything is fine and defending everything right now, not at all, but let's have a sense of reality and quit the fucking hyperbole eh?

Football is shit to watch at any level. People need to accept that. Even the teams that beat us usually play shit football every week. Football that has their fans reacting the same as us. The game is dead.
Watching it live at the ground makes it bearable because people engage in a diluted tribal instinct that reside deep down in every human being. We all cling on for that rare moment of victory. And perhaps a good deal of banter.
Watching football on TV is mind numbing. Probably better to watch Flight Focus live stream of Heathrow plane arrivals on YouTube

Very true! We cling on to the euphoria of rare games where we have been outstanding...Stockport, Wrexham and more recently Peterborough. A lot of what we witness isn't nice but we ignore this for the unbelievable feeling when we win.
As for the tribal bit, yes, there is this feeling of togetherness through thick and thin. If it wasn't for that the stadium would be empty!!

It's as if Campbell, Roberts and Pheonix don't exist.
Everyone moaned when we played two WINGERS to accomodate a front 1
Most of us wanted a back 3 with WING backs and yesterday we saw Luther and Saxon pushed higher than they have mostnof the season.
So why moan about 'non existent wingers' ?
And to blame Evans for implementing a direct long ball strategy after years of Westley & Maamria ball is frankly laughable.
One of the poorest seasons? We are top half in L1, I suggest some perspective is in order.
By all means criticise, it ain't good at the moment, but at least make your point relevant.

For a long time before this season I had been praying we bought some wingers and played them. Most goals I see at this level come from getting down the wing crossing it or cutting it back.
Wee finally did it this season and started really well, top of the league. Then we stopped doing that and went back to the shit stuff.
However I would prefer two wingers and two strikers but that would mean Kemp missing out.
I feel like we are playing one striker to accommodate Kemp, not wingers. So ow we are trying wing backs instead, but that's not the same as having proper wingers.

Wingers means 442 (or 451 if you've got a big target man as a no.9) in my book.
We mostly played 433 with our wingers either side of Reid.
Worked ok until other teams pushed rheir FBs on, forced our wide men to drop and do a bit of defending, which wasn't their strong point, so we had exposed FBs and ineffective wingers, leaving Reid isolated.

It’s as if a lot of Stevenage fans these days aren’t Stevenage fans at all. We’ve not played “attractive,” attacking football since Stimmo almost 20 years ago. We’ve played better football than now, we’ve played winning football too but in terms of attractive football, not so much.

Revs football is the worst that I can remember. Sheringham era was just mental. There’s been high and lows throughout the other periods but I cannot recall being as bored watching Boro as under Revs, mark 1 and 2.

The following season 2021/2022 certainly wasn’t a season of nothingness when we had a awful start under Revs, he was way out of his depth we had to sack him then an awful spell under Tisdale saw us nearly go back to non league thanks to them.
