Transfer Deadline Day
Views: 1544
Any rumours?
Can see that Bobby Wales is most likely going to Huddersfield.
As for WATN, Jamaal Lascelles to Leicester and Semy Dieng to Feyenoord.

Glad it's over. Some players may have been distracted hoping for moves. Now they know this is it for the next 3 months they can knuckle down and get on with it, having to play for a decent move in the summer.
Glad we didn't waste money on a panic buy that turns out no good.

If so I agree with Chuds that we only need 3 strikers.

Looking at my watch I'm beginning to think we might not be signing that 20 goal striker after all.
Damn you Phil, damn you Leon
No wonder Revs struggles to get his team to score 3 goals per game.

We have 3 so called strikers but apparently no problem as we only play one up front anyway unless of course we get more injuries. .

Why are you so adamant we are going to have a bunch of strikers get injured?
Seeing as we also only play one GK, one RB and one LB, do you also think we should sign a bunch of those so we have four each of those just in case we get a load of injuries in the next three months, or is it only strikers we need loads of backup for just in case we get loads of injuries?
Which top striker(s) who will make a difference to our season are you suggesting we should be bringing in?

Each to their own opinions on but we only having 3 available we have less scope and most clubs at our level have normally at least 4 recognised.
As to who we sign no I don't know but I also never thought of Cornick until we did .
EDIT not heard any re Simpson I assumed out whole season but perhaps back in training.

Re: Transfer Deadline Day

If you are somebody who believes we have a chance at the playoffs, then it is a concern watching all those clubs who we would be competing with for them, making top signings, who are far better than the level.
If you are not somebody who believes that, then it is funny seeing all the clubs at the top end clearly spending big bucks at it when only two of them will be going up with Cardiff.
Just shows, again, what we are up against and how the position we are in really shouldn't be taken for granted or not appreciated. These clubs have the draw factor with players that we do not, thy have the budget that we do not, or at least are willing to lose millions a year when we (quite rightly) are not.

Looking at it from the other direction, we don't appear to have lost anybody we wanted to keep, though the way he is playing at the moment I would drive Harvey anywhere he wants to go. We have signed Cornick, a Championship player, or almost, a big bucks midfielder from Brighton and a defender for the future. And we've lost a fringe player on big wages in Jake Young. I wouldn't call that a bad window.

Absolutely. Two players for the future, ready to replace those we are losing in the summer, and good money on a talented but unproven youngster that we can reinvest in the squad in the summer.

Nah, those we are competing with have better squads with much more quality depth.
But missing out on the playoffs alone (depending on the manner with which we finish the season) is not a failure of a season, considering the above, despite what some would have you believe.

Yes.
But the confidence across the squad, and tactical know-how from the management will likely seen us fall a few places short.
This isn't a dig at Revs, it's a recognition that he's still relatively inexperienced and appears naturally risk averse tactically.

If deadline day ends and we don’t sign an injury prone player who has only played a handful of games in the last five years, or a striker that hasn’t scored for three years. I will delete my season ticket QR code from Apple wallet and throw my iPhone on the pitch at the next home game. 😡😡

Not surprised that Seny has gone from strength to strength after leaving us.
Incredibly underrated, and arguably disrespected by some of our fanbase when he got ahead of Paul Farman in the pecking order.
You could see his quality from day 1 when we lost to Norwich in the Carabao cup could have easily been 5/6 to Norwich without him.

Honestly, when I was watching the youth cup game at Bolton he didn't look on another level to our other players, if anything there were technically better players on show, he was just bigger and stronger. I think overall it's good business and again shows we give youngster a platform to progress.

Think how rich we're going to be next season after we beat Palace U18s and reach the FAYC QF, before selling half the team to PL academies for MILLIONS.

Tough to accept – but equally good move to cash in on him while his stock his high, lest he gets injured or has a drop in form.

So many young players show great potential and then wither on the vine or simply dont continue on the same trajectory.
Makes perfect sense to cash in early.
Good luck to Ryan. Hope he makes us look stupid for letting him go.

Don't see how he would make us look stupid.
He fails = we did great selling him for good money when we did.
He succeeds = we do well from our add-ons associated with the sale.
Truly a win-win.

I doubt many if anyone is gonna come in for Goode. Fantastic player, my POTS so far. But he’s early 30’s and incredibly injury prone.
Then again some chairman have more money than sense

Re: Transfer Deadline Day

My hope with Goode is that as he’s relatively local, he’ll be settled here and happy to stay. Given his age and ability though one bigger contract elsewhere could turn his head. I see that being an issue in the summer though, not today.
Don’t think his playing style is overly reliant on pace. Early 30s isn’t the death knell for a competitive career it once was, especially if your game isn’t reliant on blistering pace.

This is bollocks. He had one very serious injury when in the PL with Brentford which kept him out for more than a season and a broke a leg playing for us. Otherwise his fitness record over 10 years is excellent.
