Makes it more likely we might be sticking with three at the back? I was thinking that we only had three fit CBs last night which forces a formation change if one can't play.

What we definitely need is another defender, with our defensive record so bad. Prioritise that over a forward because we score goals for fun already

Not sure if he is right or left sided but possibly long term replacement for Sweeney, Goode or Pidge ? Reckon if happens we might loan him back for season.
EDIT interestingly they also have our old player Jake T in squad.

Interestingly their gaffer was at the Academy 3-4 years ago. Keep an eye on him. He is making a name for himself in non league

Right footed.
Freestone is Pidge's replacement. Taylor would be Goode's.

Charlie was on a year contract with us having the option to extend for another year, which we did. This means he is out of contract at the end of the season unless we can get him to sign up.
I expect he has other suiters!

Hopefully (for us) his injury record puts clubs off investing. But he's easily good enough for the Championship

Not sure. His technical ability in terms of first touch and distribution is limited, The Championship, like the PL is increasingly looking for 'ball playing' CBs to aid possession.
Defensively he's a rock and his defensive positioning and decision making is good enough though.
But maybe he's already suggested he won't extend, and has been tapped up, hence we've signed a right sided CB , we'll never know

He is good enough for the championship, hopefully we don't sell him now to cash in as would move free at the end of the season.

I can't see him staying when the money flying about this league would mean a Stockport or Bolton could double his dough. Enjoy him while you can I reckon.

Freestone signed a new contract a couple of weeks ago so isn't going to be a free agent this summer.

A bit of succession planning never goes amiss though.
Incidentally we looked very assured last night with a back three. Feel like we can only do that with Pidge or Charlie as the central defender and the more mobile Freestone and Sweeney either side.

Freestone will move up a division if we don't. ££££
Butler probably has a year left in him at L1 at best.
Saxon is our left side future.
Pidge's star is waning.
Goode has 2 seasons left easily. Luther likewise has a few seasons in him yet even as FB.
Sensible to invest for the future on the right side of a 3 or 4.
