I'm feeling confident about Boro tonight.

Tonight we will turn into a winning team again. The herbs I planted in my kitchen herb garden have germinated. This is a sign of new life.
REVS has been solid the past few months. His TACTICS have been brilliant. Unfortunately the opposition have somehow managed to produce better ones. This is just bad luck. Luck is a huge factor in football, probably 80% of the game. So what if we've only won 2 games since October, that's just statistics, and stats can be easily MANIPULATED! Anyway. We have no right to beat teams like Exeter away from home.
I know we all get behind the club on this forum. our positive energy can lift the team to victory. Believe in REVS. Don't pick holes in his tactics, he means well and we don't want him stolen by a premiership team.

They outplayed us first half
We played better second half
We hesitated too often allowing them to take the advantage
Some of their players were super fast
Marschall was my MOMT
The Ref was a whistle happy clunt
Their number 8 was a clunt
Fair play to their fans. It's a long way from Yorkshire on a Tuesday night

I thought they did, first half. Some decent passing and movement off the ball, more attacks with purpose than us and kept cutting us open on that right hand side into our left back position, albeit, as you say, with no troubling end product.
I like Taye, but suddenly felt (and the defence looked) far more confident with our rock back in between the sticks.
The rough and windy conditions hampered both teams equally, as did the ref - always funny when both sets of fans are singing about how bad he is.
Could have been much worse. A pleasing enough result but then there was no reason why we couldn’t have won it, particularly in that second half when there wasn’t a lot wrong apart from a finished product.
Dan Phillips my MOTM - some decent passes tonight, cracking tackles, high work rate, a real quality bit of midfield work from him I thought. A fair result.

Taye's time here is absolutely done. Probably in the summer rather than now, but he is gone.
Which is a massive shame as it is easy to forget just how bloody good he was for us in our L2 promotion season and first season in L1, but sadly he no longer looks anywhere near the same keeper and needs to go and start afresh elsewhere.
But I would be amazed if he is being anything other than 100% professional, and is not being fully supportive of Filip, and will wish him nothing but total success in his career when he goes.
29 clean sheets in 67 games for us in the league, with only 62 goals conceded. There is a top keeper there, just hope he finds his confidence again.

They had pace, but I was surprised how little they offered going forward, thought they were poor.
Ref blew for everything, awful.
Neither side did enough to win. But the effort was there.
Couple of decent chances, couple of shots on target that on another day, maybe...
Thought the ET singers stuck with the team, even late on whennit was clearly Headington 0-0.
Would have liked Revs to have freshened it up a bit earlier but that said he gave Campbell and Kemp 20 minutes, albeit I don't remember Campbell doing anything.
Wonder if he'll play 2 up top Satdi?

0-0 is the way forward.
Premier League games are producing more 0-0 draws. 17 so far.
The current rate of 7.7% this season is the highest it has ever been (since it was higher 5 seasons ago).

One of those where I don't think there could be (m)any complaints as a standalone game, but as it extended the winless run, albeit with plenty of positives to build on ahead of the weekend IMO, there is going to be some (partially understandable) grumbling still.
What I will say is that if the booing at FT was aimed at the team rather than the ref, then that is ridiculous!
First clean sheet in five games, so that was a definite positive. And ended our longest losing streak of the season, after a whopping two defeats. Follow it up with a win on Satdi and that is 4pts from two games going into another home game next Tuesday. Lovely.

Disagree we played for a 0-0.
A lack of cutting edge and clear cut chances being created, certainly, but don't believe we set out for a 0-0 at all today. We simply lack the quality/confidence or options offensively at the minute, and I would personally rather we don't totally open ourselves up to go gung-ho at it to try to force the issue as it may be more open and exciting, but we would then definitely end up conceding and losing.
I will be very interested to see how Revs approaches it in a couple more weeks once Cornick is more up to speed, and hopefully with a few more players back from injury too so we have more options available formation wise.

I’m don’t know what the full time stat was but the half time pass completion stat of 54% is a problem. It’s impossible to build forward momentum if we cannot keep the ball.

I think that is pretty normal for our pass completion percentage. We shouldn't be surprised by how low it is based on the number of long pass attempts we make (13 of 57 last night, 207 pass attempts total). Long passes are generally less accurate and more difficult to control/keep possession.
I would love to see some more variety in our passing and players driving the ball forward/trying to beat their man. I realise this is more dangerous and there is a chance of losing the ball in our half/with players committed further forward but as you have pointed out, we cannot build forward momentum the way we are currently playing

One of the positives for me last night was how well Pattenden sloted into the side. A very useful player to have. As I said previously, I'd even consider playing Wildin as a cb instead, certainly if we played wingbacks, at the right of a back 3 to give us some more ability on the ball.

The speed we play at, the everyone back for everything, the breaking up the pitch individually with zero options. All that says to me we set out not to get beat at the expense of everything else.
I just can't accept that at home, sides don't like coming and playing on our narrow pitch and it should work to our advantage. If we continue to play this way we badly need a big physical lump of a striker that can hold the ball up. He doesn't even need to be a goalscorer, just be able to hold up the play while the team get up the pitch.

I've said this many times. We sit way too deep, in order to keep a clean sheet, which utterly negates us as an attacking unit. We are so slow and ponderous on the ball. We seem to be playing at 75%. Yet again Reid is completely wasted as a lone striker. Remember, this is Rev's squad now. It's on him. If we were creating chances and missing loads, then you would argue it just needs fine tuning, but we are a one dimensional, slow, ponderoes football team right now. Where has all the early season 'pass and move' football gone? We were positive, aggressive, and got forward with numbers. We seem so intent on not conceeding, we have completely stiffled our attacking intent.

We only have one number 10. For all the plaudits Dan Phillips receives for being a "typical Stevenage player", he isn't a number 10.
Remember at the start of the season we had Luther, Houghton, Kemp, Butler and Chem all in the starting XI.
Freestone is a solid defender but going forward he isn't Butler. Chem and Kemp can unlock a defence.
Until they're fully fit again, we're going to struggle to create any chances.

I think Jasper can do an adequate (probably better than that from whenever I have seen him) job covering for Luther as either wingback or normal FB, but without both Butler and Saxon we then cannot play with three at the back and wingbacks anyway as Freestone, good as he is, is not able to bomb forward like that.

If Wildin could cross he would be playing in the Championship by now. One major flaw in his game.

Don't know why I am bothering as seems people have now made up their mind and fully turned, but why does seemingly everybody seem so convinced we are going to lose tonight? I wouldn't say I am confident we will win, but I am not expecting us to lose (I am sure if we do people will come on and get some really perverse pleasure in gloating about it).
We have only lost once in our ten home matches this season, and that was 1-0 to Cardiff. Saturday was the first time all season we have lost consecutive matches, and that was away at Exeter where we have lost our last eight league visits in a row, and won just twice in 21 visits, regardless of managers, coaches, players. The match before that we lost away at Luton, in a match where we played well and were the better side for a large portion of the match.
We have played four more away matches than home this season, four of our six matches in our winless run have been away, and they have been to Cardiff (top of the league, we played very well in large spells second half), Luton and Exeter (see above) and Wimbledon (poor game but we didn't lose). Our two home matches we didn't lose and but for fucking up after taking the lead in both to let the win slip, we really should have won both.
I get we played shit at Exeter (we always do), we are on a concerning winless run and aren't keeping clean sheets (the two are very much linked) or scoring at the minute, but I really do think there is a massive overreaction going on right now about how bad we are and we really have been rather solid at home all season.
I can understand not expecting us to win, and with our missing players we are very stretched right now that would test any manager (Revs isn't helping himself in a number of ways but there is only so much he can do with what is available to us right now), but the negativity right now, and particularly at the upcoming three home matches, seems ridiculous to me.
I look forward to seeing the replies to this from those who want us to lose and Revs to be sacked just so they can be right, after we lose 3-0 tonight 😊

I do understand the dismay of those who think we should have snaffled a 20-goal striker. It seems Man City snatched Semenyo from under our noses, but I expect Revs will be on the case if Salah's future at Liverpool is in doubt. His options are limited by injuries and squad size and recently he has been let down by the likes of Kemp, Reid and White (if only Harvey was half the player he thinks he is) all under performing. Even Aslan seems to be feeling the arrows of old(ish) age. These days it only takes three opposition players to haul him to the ground when he goes forward for corners...

Another example of us being fucked over by the fixtures and international breaks as the attendance (both from them and us) would have been considerably higher originally, and our form was far better and theirs far worse when originally scheduled too.
