Potential Frozen Pitch

By Sev3/1 15:14Sat Jan 3 15:14:20 2026

What do we think the chances of the game being on tomorrow?

-4 overnight and not reaching 0 until midday. Sun likely to be out to help thaw, but any parts in the shade will surely be frozen solid.

Wonder how early the ref turns up to do the pitch inspection?

I'm anticipating it to be off. Which I'm sure both sides won't mind too much with it being the 3rd game in 1 week.

Why would I bash the club? Was always going to be off in this weather.

Just a shame as now could have been an excellent time to play them.

Pitch Update

By Sev4/1 10:22Sun Jan 4 10:22:39 2026In response to Potential Frozen PitchTop of thread

From the clubs X account:

https://x.com/i/status/2007759015757881707

ℹ️ Pitch update:

An early morning look at the pitch today was quite encouraging. The frost covers have been on since Thursday night and the pitch was in good condition yesterday.

The pitch covers will be removed as late as possible today to give the best chance possible for the match to go ahead with a pitch inspection planned for later this morning when the covers are removed.

We will provide a further update in due course.

I'd still be amazed given it's still 0 at midday. Even at 1-2C air temp the ground can still freeze up.

No, I forgot to put them on.

The picture Donny had with the announcement showed those portable heat lamps on the pitch, so even that had no effect.

Perhaps a disadvantage having a bigger bowl stadium in that no sunlight can get inside?
