At least other results were kind to us, although I'm not sure that makes our failure to win more or less annoying.

I'd preferred Cardiff to have beaten Lincoln.
I don't believe we are competing with Cardiff but we might be worth Lincoln.

We just never seemed to stay focused for 90 mins.
Iâm not going to pick anyone out as an escape goat, but someone whose name rhymes with Van Tweeny was a major influence on their first goal.
I think Revs should have made the subs straight after they scored. Phoenix was out of puff by then.
Basically this afternoon was like watching a Vauxhall conference match.

Donât know if it is. Suppose itâs dependant on personal definitions.
We werenât the better team by stretch of the imagination. We shouldnât have let them back in at 2-1 but not as if we were head and shoulders the better side and they nicked something. For me thatâs not dropped points itâs getting no more than our performance merited sadly.

They scored the only non-gifted goal of the game, so from that point of view it's not terrible. But expected a win before the match.

Aye, but nobody expected anything from Stockport so looking bigger picture we would all have taken 4pts from Stockport away and Burton at home.
Not that that helps much in the immediacy and frustration of failing to win from 2-1 to at home today, but a season is 46 matches, not just today.
Conceding three in eight home games, including Bradford and Cardiff who have scored for fun, but then conceding twice to Burton today was more annoying than anything else, even the dropped points.

Feels like it.
I just don't get the substitutions. Why make a triple change with 2 minutes of injury time left... just why?
We had our chances, but so did they. Defensively just didn't tick today. Apparently we'd only considerd 3 league goals at home all season before today.

Those substitutions were very strange!
Although frustrating, I'd still prefer that than trying to grind out a 0-0.

Was the foul on Reid late on just outside the box a foul or did he take a dive?
Ref was giving him (and everyone else.to be fair) absolutely nothing from minute 1 so why he kept going over and throwing his arms up i dont know. Battle, give a bit back and stay on your feet.

Think it would have been given more often than not but havenât seen it back. Ref let the game flow, would rather a ref who does that than a whistle happy clown any day.

A few observations from the first live game ive attended this season
Saxon was my MOTM. Quality. Need to keep him fit.
We waste so much ball with long diagonals out to no-one from the CBs. Early on we played neat progressive triangles down the flanks 3-4 times, we need to trust Luther and whoever plays LB to be able to link up with the wide attackers and progress the ball up the pitch
Doherty looked a bit bullied, eased out of contention for high balls by bigger players but never hid, always showing for the ball, if he (maybe understandably) played it safe too often.
Pheonix looked short of confidence and rarely ran at his man with conviction, and if he isn't going to beat his man, there's little point him being there. Ran a lot though and can put a cross in.
Houghton does soo much organising and closing space of the ball. Him and Louis T are a class above.

That was far from the worst game from them as well. 100% the most frustrating part of our game.

I see enough of us on TV to know we revert to it a lot.
But watching it live enables you to see the other short and wide options we could choose instead.

First one for me too for a while...if that's top 6 standard I dont see us stating there too long. White was the only quality, before then we couldn't string 2 passes together and everyone knocks Sweeney but the number of hospital passes he was given. Very disappointed, I actually thought Burton were the better team.

White and Houghton will have us cooking again. It really is a top 6 partnership.
Agree regarding Sweeney, plus their number 10 didn't stop pressing the defence all game. However, Goode will rightly slot back in to the defence vs Dons

Saxon is another people rave about but I don't see him being any better than Butler or Freestone.
Doherty is 5th choice midfielder so not sure why he is starting ahead of others.
Our pitch is small/narrow so playing with Phoenix and Campbell at home doesn't work for me. Also means you haven't got that option off the bench when you need a spark. Bench was pretty week today.

Saxon is better going forward than Freestone. Intelligent enough to spot and play 1-2 balls and looks forward rather than backward.
I like Freestone but he's not a full back. He's a very good L1 CB doing a decent defensive-minded job at LB when needed.
Saxon is quicker than both Freestone and Butler. And as good defensively as Butler. Shame he's made of glass.

Going forward yes, but I was thinking of defending. Like my defenders to defend first and any attacking stuff is a bonus, but not to the detriment of defending.
Defence look pretty poor today, would be stronger as a unit with Goode and Freestone, rather than Sweeney and Earley.

But we might not have created as much? I rate Saxon but not convinced he's as good as the first time he was here. Think the injuries have taken a bit from him. He's still first choice left back for me.

Pheonix was never gonna be much help to his FB, Chem does a little bit more but at home I want my wingers in the opposition half as much as possible.
And I want Luther and Saxon to take it in turns to offer an overlap, leaving the other one back with the CBs and Houghton.

Other results OK for us

A draw today - annoying though it was - wasnât so bad for us in terms of other results, with Cardiff, Bradford, Barnsley and Bolton all losing. I think weâd take a day of both Cardiff & Bradford losing, even if we didnât fully capitalise on it.
