Are we too small for The Championship?

Does anyone actually want to get promoted?
The gulf in class appears to be big, could be a bloodbath...

Considering Burton and Yeovil managed to get there, it's certainly achievable. Would likely be a one season stay though.
The biggest pitfall would be avoiding the kind of downward spiral that teams like Scunthorpe and Yeovil had after dropping out of the Championship.

Are we too small to be in the championship? No.
Are we too small to be in the championship for a period of time and it be sustainable? Yes.

No, I don't think we are too small. Wimbledon could do it, why not us. They had 14 seasons in the old Division 1/ Premier League.
I would say whole heartedly we should grab it and enjoy the ride.

I wouldn't mind if we lost most games BUT to get the double over Hollywood again would be enough for me

Wimbledon's rise was before money and football crashed head-on.
I'd like to know Bournemouth's business strategy however, tiny ground by top flight standards, no huge mega-rich or celebrity owners, (of course the Anglo-Russian owner was rich but not Abramovich levels) no TV show.

Bournemouth have a 11000 capacity stadium...Broadhall Way could be redeveloped to match or better that. No need for a relocated, souless stadium like Colchester or Milton Keynes.
Anyway, we are getting ahead ourselves here...nice to have this debate and dream.

I would take Boro getting promoted to the championship over an England World Cup.
As long as we can accept that we will come straight back down, we can probably make some good money out of it too.

'We' as a fan base wouldn't accept it though. Just look at this season and if we dare not to win a game at home the booboys are out at the end of a game and social media is a shitshow.
Would be toxic, but I'd very much like to have a go and enjoy any rare points we did get

The smallest currently are
聽8th Watford聽路 7 Preston North End 路 6 Portsmouth 路 5 Swansea City 路 4 Millwall 路 3 Queens Park Rangers 路 2 Oxford United 路 1 Wrexham.
(Google told me this so could be rubbish, no idea what criteria was applied).
We are comfortably 'smaller' than all of them but have also bested most of them in our recent(ish) past.
And given 1-2 clubs get a points deduction for committing financial suicide or being owned by a crook most years we might have a fighting chance of staying up...

As I said no idea on the criteria.
Probably an AI amalgamation of turnover, attendance, pitch width and car parking spaces.

Wycombe went up (and were unlucky no to stay up) without destroying themselves. Yeovil have never recovered from a year in the Championship. So I guess it depends how the club is run, and fortunately we are run very well.
Yes we would take some hammerings, but there would be the odd good day too. Treat it as a year of sightseeing.
Bring it on.

Not me , that鈥檚 why I go to all the games - in the hope we don鈥檛 get too many points. If we get too close at the end of the season I鈥檒l probably get tickets in the oppositions stand .
I mean , i apologise for being sarcy, but what鈥檚 the point in competing and working hard if there鈥檚 not a goal af the end of it. If we did manage to get promoted, we may stay up or we may come back down- either way it will be an adventure.
To be clear - Yes , I want us to go up.

With Wallace in charge it would be fun and not destroy us. Under ownership mad enough to push their luck, it might be very bad indeed.

We probably are.
It'll be a financial shitshow trying to get players in to compete and keep any retained ones happy.
And in the strong likelihood we come straight back down the contracts and finances will be even worse.
But there's no point competing if you don't want to keep climbing.
And if we can see the obvious financial risks, you can be damn sure Phil can see them too and mitigate them.
And there are huge opportunities too. Sponsorship, profile, attendances, TV money...

Why would you not want to get promoted. We鈥檇 be a small fish, but it would be a great adventure and even if we came straight back down, so long as the club is correctly managed it wouldn鈥檛 hurt us in any way.
Long way to go yet. Let鈥檚 just enjoy seeing where the season takes us.

Do you think the people that sh*t the bed after a 0-0 with Doncaster (despite us still being 6th in League 1) will be more forgiving if we reach the championship and lose every other week?
