Looking at the crowd size, perhaps there was an argument for reducing prices or offering a family ticket. We are in a cost of living crisis after all! I know it's a balancing act but could have done with the ground being a bit fuller. As it is that's one revenue stream now gone completely.

Goode, Houghton or White for POTS me so far.
White probably edges it on his 'goal contributions'.

Not a single player above 5/10 today, with a whole host completely anonymous and/or putting in their worst showing of the season. Butler, Pidge and Sweeney all disappointing, Houghton and White didn't contribute anything, Reid and Roberts may as well have not been on the pitch AGAIN. Kemp and Phoenix tried but nothing came off. Campbell offered a slight spark after coming on and Jovan made some good runs but nothing came of them. Gassan and Orford didn't add anything and Phillips was absolutely shocking, giving the ball away every time he had it and just ambling about.
A really disjointed performance across the board, and poor communication across the pitch too. Totally lacked any intensity or creativity. Their keeper made two comfortable saves and we hit the bar from a fortuitous deflection off their defender, and that was it. They offered absolutely nothing other than scoring a penalty (which looked identical to the Pattenden one that the ref didn't give us in the first half (didn't think the first one he turned down on Phoenix was a pen). Even if he got the penalty calls right, which I don't think he did, he was absolutely fucking awful, and is one of those refs who just comes across as an utter cunt every single time he refs a game.
So all in all, I had a great afternoon đ
Not going to overreact to it or hold it against them though as it has been a tremendous season thus far, but that today was seriously poor and disappointing.

That reminded me of the bad old days pre Evans, where it looked as if they didn't care less. No real tempo, no desire or will to win. I'm sure that is far from the truth but this wasn't the Boro who lead the League One table not that long ago.

Not surprised by Phillips either. Both him and Sweeney have aren't good enough for even a squad place IMO.
Get the feeling all the players weren't that fussed about going out the cup. I hope that's what it was anyway, as the performance sounded seriously worrying.
Need to bounce back with a good display against Reading.

Not good enough today but we're still in a good position and this might just bring us back to reality and get the team's head down for our league games this month.
We can't be brilliant all the time but I'm going to need 24 hours before feeling positive again.

Absolute guff
Views: 938
Wouldnât have scored had Chesterfield walked off after 80 minutes. Too many players regressing - Reid looks like heâs reverted to Conference South days, Roberts, even by his canât be arsed standards, offers nothing. Kemp is going backwards - literally. Bringing on Ahadme and Malcolm like introducing a bag of feathers. Guff. Absolute guff against lower league opposition who really didnât need to be anything special

Thought Ahadme was alright. As usual, he won most of the balls lobbed his direction, just a shame there was never anybody nearby to get the knock on/loose ball.

Certainly one I would be tempted to move on to try and free the budget when possible.
I'm hoping today was just a case of them wanting it more than us. Hemel taking Wigan to pens and other results in the round seem to suggest likewise elsewhere.

There was a five minute spell second half today where on three occasions Kemp got the ball in the middle and looked threatening, but then the attacks petered out (one of them after he had one of two shots on target we had today) once they got in the box.
Him and Phoenix toiled away today but nothing came of it. Same for Phoenix in every game he has started bar the FLT matches, which is why I had no issue with him not starting against Bradford whilst some were demanding he had to start just because he did well against some toddlers from a Crystal Palace.

Yes youâve been saying it for sometime and Iâve thought it for a while . I thought he made mistakes against Luton and got a way with it and mistakes today before the one that cost us . Iâve definitely seen enough now to say thatâs enough. I think itâs the biggest fall in standard if we go like for like in each position and itâs inevitable that Pidge and Goode will pick up injuries/ suspensions . Iâd always use Freestone as back up first . Definitely time to move on in January which is probably at least 6 months too late . Not sure what TVCâs fitness is like but definitely need to concentrate on signing a centre half this January if we are to stay top 6.

Let's be fair here, it was a seriously bad mistake for their goal, but Sweeney did also save a couple of goals with clearances in the first half (certainly the first one would have been a definite goal).
I was very surprised to see Revs drop Goode today though. He and Pidge have been such a solid pairing all season that I would be picking them in the FA Cup too (and both will be facing a suspension in the league soon too so will get a game off then). Likewise Butler as Freestone has been so strong. Easy to say with hindsight but Pidge and Sweeney looked uncomfortable with each other all game and Butler really struggled against his man and hardly got forward at all either.

Re: Match thread

Yes he saved a good one of the line . I really donât like saying players should move on when they try hard , as he does . He is so good with the ball , but a lot of his mistakes are just such simple ones , like a concentration thing . Just think itâs got to that time now unfortunately.

Re: Match thread

Just seen their penalty , looked for it but definitely a penalty . If the ref was unsure then Pidge pointing to say it was outside the box ( which it wasnât) would have helped make up his mind . Just an instinctive thing to do but tells the ref if there was contact or not .

Indeed, or may be slightly under the weather or had been off in training all week, or a number of other factors.
And these are the little things we don't know, so make it hard to have too much of a go with team selections, unless said selections are constantly starting Jordan Roberts, but to give Revs credit he hasn't been doing that lately.

Such a poor crowd today for an FA cup match. Always used to guarantee a full house.
Match itself very disjointed in the first half. Felt like the lack of crowd and atmosphere communicating to the players. Too much sloppy and lacklustre play. Hopefully they will wake up second half

Re: Match thread

Other than against Newcastle, Spurs, Everton, it has never guaranteed a full house, or even close to it!
Which isn't to disagree with the point that it is indeed a disappointing crowd, but that part is pure hyperbole.
We haven't looked at it, they don't look great either, and it is the opposite of Bradford last weekend, which was a thoroughly entertaining and enjoyable watch.
The ref is also a shit prick.
