I don't usually moan about the refs, but this guy is doing my head in.
Not much between the teams.

Agree , thought he kept the game flowing , only gave cards when necessary. Their fans called for 25 penalties.

I thought he was dreadful, got multiple decisions wrong for both teams, probably should have given a red and them a penalty. One of the worst we've had in a while
Performance was great on the other hand, and particularly encouraging how we kept pace with a team that's looked the best in the league by a distance so far. The improvement from last year is impressive too, particularly in White. Pattenden was particularly good, I was a bit worried about him before the game based on some shaky performances but he was my motm today. If Reid or Roberts scored either of their good chances early in the second half it would have been a brilliant win, but still a very positive result.

Good summary. Felt they were very beatable when we raised the momentum and had a go. But happy with the sensible fairly conservative base.

I wouldn't want him again as a ref. Got 90% spot on but as you say, some odd calls.
Gave a foul against Kemp when he had the ball and got bumped from behind. Not a foul either way but definitely not against Kemp advancing into the final third.
The trip on Roberts was an professional foul in a dangerous position, yellow every day of the week.
Hack on Pattenden a clear red IMO but can forgive a yellow.
Pleasantly fussy on Bradford stealing 10 yards on throw-ins but let us get away with it.
Attention seeking.
Bradford fans will be blaming him all weekend.

Thought he got worse the longer the game went on. Hard to comment on things that happened in the far penalty box, but there were several bizarre decisions. On the playing front I thought Pattenden improved greatly as the game went on. Freestone was hung out to dry by Lubala's lack of defensive nous. Pidge and Goode were as expected. Simple but very good. Excellent goal from Harvey but thought he was quiet other than that. Houghton does the dirty work. And he does it well. Roberts was OK. Should have scored. Offers quite a bit defensively too. Kemp showed flashes of brilliance. My only criticism of him is he's knocked off the ball too easily. Reidy is left to run the channels. Not giving him much to feed off. Needs better service from wide positions. Why Phoenix didn't get 25 minutes is baffling. All in all a fair result.

Kemp was the only one who really looked like making something happen today. Badly needs to ball into his feet as much as possible.
I wish our options at left back were as good as Wildin and Pattenden at rb. Hopefully Saxon will get back to being the player he was last time he was here.

Not sure anything justifies Lubala coming out for the 2nd half. Can’t beat his man and leaving Freestone stranded.
Kemp having a good game and great strike from Harv.

Yep.
Other than their goal we haven't really been troubled, whilst we have had three or four chances in and around the box.
An entertaining 45 between two clearly decent sides, but we have edged it.

First half was so entertaining and quick... best 45 I've watched in a while.
1-1 a fair result IMO.
Ref arguably could have sent the player off first half for that bad foul on Pattenden (who should already have been booked for the trip on Roberts) but you win some you lose some.
White is gonna make us a fortune at some point, not even close to the player of last season, so so good.
And Pattenden had an absolute stormer, Luther might have a fight on his hands.

Exactly! Take the game to them!
I guess we didn't want to risk giving Bradford the 3 points. Hopefully he would have been braver and taken a risk against a side lower in the table.
My biggest cristism of Revs is that he is still more reactive than proactive when it comes to subs. There was a lengthy spell at the start of that second half where we fell apart, especially down our left and you felt like he was waiting for them to score before he addressed it.

And lose 2-1 ;).
Any suggestion we didn't go for the win just because Phoenix didn't play (after doing well against some shit children) today is complete and utter bullshit.
And besides, whenever he has started for us in the league he has been disappointing, and today was not a match that suited him. I absolutely agreed with Campbell replacing Bez over Phoenix. I would have brought Phoenix on instead of Roberts (poor again for me today) and Gass for Reid (really poor today, looked two yards off the pace all day and his first touch was shocking) a good ten or fifteen earlier, but overall I have no complaints with Revs' selection or subs, nor with our performance. Draw was a fair result, but we edged the chances and could have won it, against a very good side.

Reid's form is a slight concern. A lot of travel and international games for him, whereas others haven't. Might be time to give him a rest from the squad completely next week. Ahadme and Malcolm can cover.

Re: Match thread

Wasn’t at it today. Would have hooked him earlier. He’s at his best when he’s instinctive. Couple of chances today where he took too long and either didn’t get his shot off or ruined his angle and the shot was almost an afterthought. A lot of his game for me is when he catches the keeper cold and hits one early.
Bit of a quandary as he arguably needs to play to get himself back into form but likewise Gassan and Malcolm won’t hit any form if they’re not given a chance. My worry with Reidy is the longer his goal droughts last the more he seems to overplay to the detriment of the team on the whole.

He looks a bit low on confidence though. One particular effort today was begging to be hit earlier and he waited a second too long. A confident Reid hits that first time.

We’re probably thinking of the same chance, was begging to be hit first time. Prime Jamie Reid fodder. Took a heavy touch, angle narrowed to zilch and hit it into the side netting.
Frustrating any time, even more so when it’s the bloke you’d back over anyone else in the squad in that exact situation doing it.

Someone at Lincoln was doing the same. We're 2nd in the league FFS, exceeding expectations and obviously doing a hell of a lot right to be there. So when we go one nil down or the opposition is hard to play, perhaps cut them some slack. Some fans just go to football to drink and shout abuse at people though.

I think it is possible to acknowledge how well the team have done to be in such a strong position at this point of the season, and still point out when things aren't going well in a particular game or a player/manager has made a "mistake." It's about holding them to the higher standards they have set for themselves. We shouldn't rest on our laurels just because we are exceeding expectations
