Hayes away in 1996, FA cup replay.

I’ve been watching the game on YouTube and it really brought the memories flooding back.
I remember that night very clearly, especially the atmosphere around the Hayes fans.

I’ve always wondered what actually started the crowd trouble. Was it just a group of Hayes supporters looking for trouble after Boro scored, because they felt bitter that we scored?

In the first half I was stood down at the front of the terrace, but my dad said we should move behind the goal because he could sense the Hayes fans were going to cause trouble.

it was QPR & Chelsea fans i don't know why! I too could sense something wasn't right as soon as i walked in the ground, the was a lot more people there than you'd normally get and little groups of people wandering around, i too stood away from the Barmy Army and stood on the corner, it was just lots of pushing and shoving not much trouble as such

Im guessing the QPR fans were the ones cheering on Hayes and they found out there were Chelsea fans there supporting Boro ? Remember the ones cheering on Hayes singing, let's all hit the Boro, after we scored.

Yeah very tense atmosphere there that night from the start.

No it was Chelsea and QPR fans wanting to fight with Stevenage fans, from what i remember it was hardly a fight just pushing and shoving

As I ran away from the fight, a fellow Boro fan had a go at me for not joining in.
