Some of you had already come to the conclusion Pidge was a club legend and speaking of him in the same breath as Robbo. It's taken me a little longer but I am now happy to do so.
Seeing a lot more behind the scenes this season through our social media output has helped this.
I think it was Freeman who said in today's video if he could be any player for the day he would be Pidge because he absolutely runs the place and wants some of that power.
This confirms Pidge is that player who bridges the gap between players and management. A captain who demands the highest of standards of everyone, but one that the players respect and are comfortable with as "one of the lads. A player the manager can trust to carry out his instructions and direction.
He embodies what Stevenage (of the past two decades) is all about and raises the standards of everyone in terms of attitude and professionalism.
He has played a large number of games now, almost ever present and a true leader of men. Body on the line and gives nothing less than everything.
So after this, his 4th season, I will be giving him legend status. Comparable to the great Robbo.

Well said , great credit has to go to SE who had a clear vision . I maybe wrong , but I feel like Pidge was Steve’s first or one of his first signings . It seemed his plan was to get him in and build a team if not around him perhaps inline with his qualities.

Steve managed to identify and sign a guy who filled a gap we'd had for a number of years in terms of giving the team a heart and soul (although saying that is an implicit criticism of a member of our current coaching staff who was playing at the time).

I'm surprised Pidge has only been with us 3 years, feels much longer!

Just speaks of the quality he is, 3 years at the club and already a legend.

If there's a testimonial or charity match in the next few years, I'd love to see Pidge and Robbo to play together

I understand from someone in the know that he was briefly unconscious from the blow. I’m not sure what the protocols are but I doubt very much he’ll play

Revs also made reference to a thumb issue, albeit one that doesn't require surgery. So, a bit of a double hit it seems.

Not the replies I was hoping for . I’d be amazed if a thumb injury keeps him out and concussion , not sure of the protocol?

I can't entirely figure it out but the GRTP seems to indicate a 21 absence. I assume the training he's in right now isn't full contact.
Page 11 onwards is the return to play bit.

If I've taken it in properly...7 days if very positive outcomes each day of reabilitation, with close doctor monitoring. If in any doubt 21 days. Wouldn't think it's wise to head a ball so early after concussion let alone getting his head inadvertantly knocked in open play.

This seems to be guidance not rules but anyone with sense should adhere to it.

Be a brave club doctor that goes against it.

Guess it depends how broken the thumb is.
Yes they can strap it but not 'to' anything and they can't put a hard cast on. He needs to be able to throw himself into tacklea and grapple players without exacerbating it.
A finger injury may be OK but the thumb is key to pulling a shirt and holding players at corners, as well as softening a fall to the floor.
Could just amputate. Ashton would have bitten it off, spat it onto the sidelines and carried on.

He will be unable to grip primitive tools, putting him at risk of being out-competed for food by centre backs better adapted to their environment.

Pidge has been training. Revs said thumb didn't need an operation - a good sign. As mentioned by others, suspect concussion protocol could be more of a problem

Revs didn’t rule him out (although may not have wanted the opposition to be in the know). so being the warrior that he is (and always being the optimist) it wouldn’t surprise me me if he plays!
