"We left Lewis Orford out the squad because he's only had a week with us.

“He travelled and although he hasn't been involved in the game, I wanted him to see it, I wanted him to feel it.

“He hasn't had that on loan before and coming to Mansfield in his first game is a big occasion.

Our best ever start in League One (wins and points).

Our joint-best ever start in the EFL (wins and points).

Our joint-fewest ever conceded at this stage in the EFL.

Our joint-most away goals scored after four matches in the EFL.

Yes very good signs . I know the teams we’ve played are mainly bottom half but again yesterday we looked the more dominant team away to a team id expect to be mid table. Yesterday an experienced league manager said we had the best back line in the division- and with our added creativity and goal threat I expect us to be around the play off positions all season.

Goode was exceptional yesterday. Back 4 looked solid on the whole. We were far to passive 1st half and our ball retention was crap. For 25 minutes of the 2nd half we were the only team in it. Should have put the game to bed. Butler should have closed down their guy when about 25 yards out, but instead kept backing off leaving him with a free shot. After thst could have gone either way. Kemp was poor, couldn't keep hold of the ball. Roberts is the only one of the front 4 that can win a header. Reid had no chance thanks to being held all day long, and the ref just let it go. We never really got Phoenix into the game. We got into some good positions in the box but the final ball was poor. Still a decent point away from home.

Apart from Mansfield’s goal. We were 1-0 up and got Goode and Pidge both in Mansfield box trying to get a 2nd leaving Butler all by himself. From 2 experienced centre backs you’d expect them to know how to see out a game professionally. Was such poor and needless goal to concede.

However solid at the back apart from that

If he can start 30+ league games I think Goode will have vindicated the part of our transfer strategy that takes chances on a few injury-prone players a season. I think if you keep them to season long deals you only need one in every three or four to come off.

Next steps, we need to tie Charlie Goode down on a new deal.

Apparently he's won the most aerial duels in the league so far this season. The opposition have given up targeting Pidge and are still met with the same out come.

Absolute MONSTERS.

Noticeable in the games I've seen that Goode is now the one who usually goes to contest first balls, which I approve of given Pidge's decision making is sometimes suspect.

Not ideal conceding the equaliser but other than Barnsley and Bradford (who we have a game in hand on) we've gained ground on everyone else around us.

Tough place to go and if we're picking a point on the road at places like Mansfield and 3pts at home we'll be in the mix come the final third of the season.

I'd have taken a point at the start of the day, but disappointing to go ahead quite late on and concede almost straight after.

Can't complain though.

I can.

We were ahead.

Why we leaving one back? Yes I know we want a second, and nearly got it, but don't leave one.

Leave two, then one can make a professional foul with cover and only get a yellow.

Otherwise...

It was a niggly physical game with an inconsistent shit ref. Goode for us and Sweeney for them were the best two players on the pitch IMO.

No real creativity from Kemp, Roberts or Pheonix. No incisive passing from White. But we also largely stifled them.

A very functtional, solid and low risk away performance reminiscent of many away games from last year.

I'm very much in your camp on him.

When he does turn up, he is undoubtedly one of our beat players, his pressing, runs and aggression can turn a game. But his lack of consistency is so bloody infuriating.

I think he's mostly been ok this season from the gamea I've watched, but so many games last couple of seasons I have wanted him hooked at half-time.

I guess that's why he's no better than a League 1 player.

I feel physically and his all round ability he can play even higher but he's too inconsistant to make that step up.

I didn't see or know the nature of their goal. I see we took 4 yellow cards; I have never liked Mansfield away games. Glad I didn't go (because of the £30 price).

They've got a stand on every side now and everything.

Probably still no pub food or free parking within 20 minutes walk.

If you get there early enough there's parking up Quarry lane or something. But yeah 30 min walk into town for a pub/food.

Can't remember if the 4th side was open last time I went or still closed off.

That was like the bad old days when we conceded so many from when we had a corner.

Butler needed to do more there.

Shame as we were far the better team up to that point in this half.
