Lewis Orford was invited to train with the England Seniors this week which apparently went well and was it seems mentored by Declan Rice.

At this rate he'll be recalled and loaned out to MK Dons before he plays for us.

From WHU web-site:
“Finally, Lewis Orford played an hour of England U20s' narrow 2-1 defeat to Italy in Chesterfield.
Liverpool's Jayden Danns cancelled out Lorenzo Ricco's opener, only for a late Jamal Iddirissou strike to prove decisive.”

If he can do just some of that in men’s football will be fantastic. Mind you wonder if he’s any good at the high press? Bet they don’t do much of that at Premier League academies!

I'm not going to pretend to have heard of him. But the comments by the West Ham fans are incredibly positive, so fingers crossed that he seems like a really good loan!

Agree 100 % on progress. Brilliant to see. This is a fantastic signing to cover Louis' absence - and likely more. Our location and League position makes us the *perfect* destination for promising young players from London clubs to spend a season. Like Murphy last year, pleased to see us capitalising. Win-win for all concerned
(Add to the above some great training facilities, a great pitch, top work ethic and some top-drawer senior pros to learn from. It should be an easy sell.)

Agree and probably obvious but assume Hammers will expect he is starter and if not enough game time will recall in Jan.

Yeah they seem to love him. Let's hope he could make the step up to the physical battle of League One.
Would be interested to see a midfield of him, Houghton and, Kemp.

This from West Ham:
Orford will embark on his first senior loan spell following a season which saw him sign a five-year contract extension at West Ham United, make his Premier League debut and captain England U19s. He was also nominated for Premier League 2 Player of the Season after contributing four goals and eight assists to help the Hammers secure a fourth-place finish in the 29-team division.
A product of the Academy of Football, who he joined at the age of five, Orford made his U18s debut at just 14 and went on to play a pivotal role in the U18s’ Premier League South and FA Youth Cup double-winning season in 2022/23, registering 22 goal involvements from central midfield. He has since been a key figure for the U21s.
His latest career milestone came in January where he was handed his first-team debut by Head Coach Graham Potter as a substitute against Crystal Palace at London Stadium.
Everyone at West Ham United wishes Lewis the very best for his loan spell at Stevenage and looks forward to following his continued development as he takes the next step in his career.

Wikipedia -
Orford has been compared with former West Ham United captain Declan Rice. He was named by English newspaper The Guardian as one of the best first-year scholars in the Premier League in September 2022 with John Brewin drawing a comparison with Frank Lampard "in his ability to arrive late on the scene for scoring opportunities."

Doomed from the second he decided to clear a knee high ball with a diving header rather than kicking it, while under no pressure whatsoever.

Only regularly started coming the last 3 conference seasons before we went all big-time.
