Thoughts for Huddersfield (and their thoughts)

I really think our visit to the Accu tomorrow is going to be the litmus test for the season. Our first game against a team that will realistically be challenging for the top 6 or higher.

I know some fans don't bother with this but I've taken a look on their forum thread for the game and it seems the split is their younger fans thinking they'll walk it, versus their older fans who would be happy coming away with a point - https://downatthemac.proboards.com/thread/121325/town-stevenage

Not to make us sound smaller than we are but just taking a step back for a moment, how far have we come that we're 12pts from 12 in the third tier with a team that was playing PL football not so long ago legitimately dreading us visiting their place.

Growing up on away days like Grays, Gravesend (Ebbsfleet), and York the reality of where we've been in recent years just keeps hitting me.

It's still far too early to be saying but if we hold our own play well, and come away at least with a point I'd say we can start eyeing a top half finish at least.

I'm going with an early goal for Huddersfield, a lot of near misses for them, then BGR pops up in the last 5mins again to pinch us a point.

1-1

Oh and just as an absolute shot in a million, is anyone driving down from Scotland for the game tomorrow? The only trains I can see left available are getting me in either 9.47 or 14.15 and even with my pass it's £100 return 🤣. Know it's a very long shot but happy to head down to wherever from Stirling and chip in for petrol.

To be honest, I'd bite your hand off for a 0-0 draw right now. We've had a tremendous start to the season, but only played well in patches

If we play like we did against Northampton and much of Port Vale then we could find ourselves 3 nil down in no time.

We played quite well at Blackpool, really well against Rotherham, or made them look terrible at least but since then we haven't looked as sharp.

So I suspect we will go there trying not to concede and see if we can nick a goal during the inevitable periods of play we have.

I would be very happy with a point, but half expecting a defeat and just hoping it's not a big one that brings us back down to earth with a bump!

Pretty much echoes my thoughts altho' I haven't seen every game.

They will be up for it given our league position.

If we can quieten the crowd and make them nervous with a good press and strong opening 15 minutes anything can happen.

Don't think this is the ideal game for our younger players, old heads where we have them, altho' needs must.

If we let them get comfortable in our half, the sizeable attendance will be buoyant. Concede early and it's curtains for us I fear. But even at 1-0 down we have a decent punchers chance with Reid on form.
