On the plus side we ground out a result without playing well. Marschall looks more and more a good keeper. Back 4 are pretty solid, if lacking a bit of pace. The front 3 were very quiet compared to our other games. We never got out of 1st gear in the 1st half. Way too pedestrian, and unable to keep the ball. 2nd half we grew into it a little more, but we were still missing something. Enter Phoenix - Immediately gave their fullback problems. Always looks to beat a man. Doubt he will start at Huddersfield, but he's certainly pushing for that spot from Campbell. I'm sorry 'Chuds', but I still don't see what White offers us? Maybe im missing something? Kemp tried his hardest to influence the game, and thankfully got on the end of Houghtons header to score. Once Ahadme scored it was game over.
On a side note, what do we have to do to get more people through the turnstiles. Barely 2500 home supporters today.

The supporter base has grown and will grow over time. Particularly if we sustain or improve on our current level. It’s a slow process, more compound interest than massive jumps in number. People who like football already have a club, you don’t just lump a load of numbers on the gate unless you’re a Wrexham for example. Glory hunters and a lot of lapsed fans anyway.
Growing a fan base is a generational thing. We’ve seen it happen already and the trend is moving in the same direction more or less.

As I said on here last weekend, we are getting double the crowds we were getting in non-league and a thousand more than we were getting first time around in League One.
They aren't small increases, and have happened in a pretty short time span.

Chuds,
Do you have enough data to plot our season home fan averages (excl. covid season)
(Or our season average inclusive of visting fans?)
Be interesting to see the graph/curve for our growth years. My rose coloured spectacles remember our Co Terence promotion season as being the best for JBT crowds and atmosphere, but I know better than to trust my memory and appreciate we had no North stand worth talking about back then, and lower away crowds.

Home only, no. Away fan numbers have only started being given regularly by clubs (all clubs, not just ours) since the start of the 2022 season.
Overall attendance, yes. I did exactly that and the club used the graphic a couple of years ago when promoting our run-in to the end of that season on social media.
I can never manage to embed stuff when using my phone, but here is the link to the original post (that final season plotted in there ended up as 4,836, with last season being 4,005. Both being the only times in our history we averaged over 4k.

That really is steeper than I imagined. Great stuff. The increase in crowds and the stat collation.

Our Terence promotion season happened after the North Stand was rebuilt though.

I assume you mean our Conference promotion season happened after the New North Stand was built?
Promoted to L2 what 2010?
North opened 2019 IIRC.

No, YOU wrote our Terence season. Like you also wrote rhyllw or whatever it was about Orient earlier. Really, if you keep this up you’ll be indistinguishable from Hitchin Boro Ex-Calling.

No, he means our Terence promotion season. The season we were promoted with Terence Vancooten.
Because you ballsed up your opening question, and Freemo is always sharp and quick to bring in humour that makes me smile. Good lad.

I'd give Pheonix a start against Vale on that wide pitch, although he might be more effective of the bench. He was very quiet in the first half v Charlton.

Hi Yeah I think that is a good idea as get them interested plus think Adults pay to some extent.Notice too we have been trying to broaden out and get schools in North/East Herts and Mid Beds involved.

None of the tickets given out are 'free' as such to schools, the vouchers for schools are things like 1 adult and 2 kids for £20, 2 adults 2 kids for £25.
Has been the key thing in getting many more kids (and their adults) going to games and then coming back more times, buying the shirt etc. Has 'normalised' being a Boro fan amongst our school age kids across the town and beyond

I think us as fans can do our bit. If we all encourage a work mate, a family member a neighbour who you know hasnt been before (maybe a tv prem fan) and get them to come along once it could help. Even if a few come back its better than relying on the club to encourage it or rely on the team doing really well that people start taking notice

They’ll pick up once August is over and (if) our results continue in the current manner. I think it’s correct to say that top of league 1 is our highest ever position so we can’t exactly blame results for crowds not turning up.
