I think the EFL and many L2 chairpeople were also happy to see the back of the Macclesfield ownership then.

Seem to remember the Carlisle and Grimsby chairmen speaking out in favour of the EFL's ultimately successful appeal to send Macclesfield down.

Felt like it somewhat mitigated the injustice of 1996.
