Only 10 days to the season and no back up keeper. Hoping we have a plan?

We have had two trialist GKs in PSFs so are trying to find one, but even if we don't imminently we have Max Woodford so wouldn't be without a GK on the bench.

Per PW then we will be getting another loan in and not a journeyman bench filler.Tje issue with this is I assume the parent club will in general expect them to be no 1 or recall them or not offer as good loan terms.

On the flip side, we sign a journeyman who is shite.

Taye isn't bulletproof and extremely injury prone, competition is healthy

"we will select on merit so they might be no.1, it might be TAH"

When the loanee doesn't play, they will, if normal loan terms are applied, cost us more in wages.

Which will restrict the pool we fish in. We don't want to be paying decent wages for a 20 year old reserve GK.

I fear whatever Revs says publicly, if we do sign a young loan GK from Championship or PL, TAH will probably end up on the bench more often than not, for the good of the club, to help fund a striker irrespective of ability.

Which is harsh but with our budget constraints, understandable.

If we do then this time next year when a fed up Taye has left we could be held to ransom by any bang average loanee or full time keeper knowing full well if we don’t give them a kings ransom we’re up the creek and keeperless.

Stop messing Taye about, he’s good enough and could be our number one for years. Put the money towards this marquee striker we’re aiming for and use the emergency loan system for a keeper if we need it.

All easier said than done I know but also not a million miles away from the realms of reality.
