Was it 1-0 at half time? Did whoever it was were playing change their whole team at half time? If not I imagine fresh legs on a hot afternoon and players at a higher level contributed to the scoreline. Either that or the second half team was far superior to the first!

It was.
Not entirely sure whether they changed their whole team at HT, but they made plenty of subs throughout the second half.
We looked infinitely more threatening second half, as you would expect given the respective scorelines, and like we would score with every attack. We should have added more too.

First 45:
Taye
Pattenden Goode Freestone (c) Earley
Young Doherty Phillips Campbell
Kemp
Appere
Goal: Doherty (lovely strike, drilled into the bottom corner from 25 yards).
Second 45:
Trialist
Luther Sweeney Pidge Butler
Trialist Houghton White Patterson
Roberts Reid
Goals: Roberts(2), Trialist(3), Patterson(2).
When Pidge went off, Sweeney and Luther moved across and Alfie Thornett slotted into RB.
Hard to fully gauge of course against such opposition but very much liked the look of Pattenden, Houghton and especially Patterson, who looked so exciting and like a serious talent. The only downsides were the goal conceded (trialist GK at fault), Reid missing three sitters, and (although it doesn't matter) Butler and Sweeney both picking up a booking.
I am not going to put it on here so Baldock cannot see, but I may have mentioned who both trialists were on @_BoroStats 😊

Was nice to see us playing with some width. Players looking to take on an opponent, balls into the box too. The left hand side was good in both halves.
Non-league opposition but you could see what we wanted to do when we had the ball. Something I’ve been crying out for since Revs took over. If that’s what he wants to do I like it and the players we’ve signed fit that system.
Good to see us with my own eyes rather than watching us get tonked in a QPR biased highlight package.

Wouldn't matter if you did. Unless they are Championship level or above and household names I won't have heard of them anyway.
(Altho' I'd probably Wiki them and then pretend to know how good they are like everyone else does)

Fine.
Alfie Whiteman the GK, from Spurs.
Mathaeus Roberts the midfielder, from Ipswich U21s.

Seven minutes of highlights here, from three camera angles. Some very questionable defending.

That goal where Sweeney tries to go on a mazy run and just messes up completely leading to a goal is not surprising in the slightest. I’m tired just watching it because it’s nothing new.

Sweeney is a bit like Zak Crawley, you're supposed to ignore the times he makes an absolute catastrophe out of the job he's supposed to be doing because sometimes he doesn't.

can not score goals, lost a decent goalie who saved stevenage in many games last season,
now left with taye in goal who dont know what day it is,+ a clueless manager.

I for one based solely on those highlights will not be buying a season ticket, am calling for the entire management team to be publicly flogged and then sacked and have remortgaged my house and lumped it all on relegation with a record low points tally.

Why two trailist GK? Taye played the first half and Whiteman the second.
Kakay was the RB.
Louis T was back with the rest of the squad when they returned for training a couple of weeks ago.

Kakay made regular Championship appearances between about 2020 and the23/24 season.
No idea whether he was any good but you don't do 3 years at that level without some talent.

so first half the trialist was the right back
and second half trialist was a keeper and midfielder (and then the RB instead of Simpson)

In that entire time this is the first time we have conceded five times.
