Wikipedia’s just reminded me that Elding was with Boro from 2003-2006, scoring 50 goals in 109 appearances before moving on to Kettering. Now, the memory’s not what it was but am I right in thinking that there was some sort of “issue” with the club/manager that caused him to move on? Anyone recall this (or am I talking rubbish)?

Yep, I recall the ego bit definitely which GW wouldn’t have tolerated. Just seem to recall that such a shame at the time that his full potential at only about 22 was’t realised with the club. Certainly his talent had been seen later by such as Leeds and Ferencvaros.

Didn't he sometimes take it short and then just hammer it at goal from a return pass? Definitely feel like he was the sort of 'maverick talent' the professionalisation of the game has choked off.
