Credit to the club for getting Six figures for him, just didn’t suit us really, and we didn’t utilise him to his strengths so a good move for all parties

If the six figures is true then it's exceptional business on the club's part.

Depends how much we bought him for in the first place!
I understand our transfer model but it is difficult for the average fan to assess our business (especially when it comes to how much value we have managed to get out of a single player) because the fee is never publicised.
Just have to trust in Phil and the board I guess until we have reason not to 🤷

Matters not what we paid. Getting paid for a young player that was never right for us and never would be is still a great bit of business.
Even if buying him was a mistake in hindsight.

Oh I agree that offloading at the right time is important but surely not buying him in the first place would have been the ideal call if he was "never right for us." A loss is a loss in my book. What is our success rate? Are we hoping to hit one in five? Ten?
I also think there is sometimes value in keeping a player and continuing to loan him out (if the other club is paying a large chunk of the wages and playing him into form).
I do hope we can become a bit smarter in our transfer dealings, albeit we have financial limitations dictating what type of player we can afford (hence the gambles taken on young, injury prone players or those that are inexperienced at this level).

I beg to disagree. Every club makes mistakes in this area (20-20 hindsight is really helpful but somehow elusive).
We have made far more good calls than bad ones in the past three years and there was reason to believe Pressley could develop into a serious player at this level. He may still. Simpson apart, I can't think of a signing that has been seriously poor, other than the odd loan.

That's all well and good but we also can't afford to miss all that often.
My concern may be completely misplaced, and if we have made a profit on Pressley, or the move has allowed us to do some creative accounting then fair enough. It may have just been a case of if he proved his fitness then another team were bound to come in for him.
But I don't think it is just hindsight which allows us to conclude that he didn't suit us. At no point last season did it look like Revs was going to use him or play to his strengths. So I do question the process and how much influence the manager has, I always prefer it that way than a transfer committee or a "non-football" person leading the decisions on players to bring in.
I'm sure it is nowhere near as bleak as I am making it out to be, and I am happy to buy in to what the club are doing. It is just very difficult to watch a revolving door of players and not have full transparency on how it is playing into our long-term plan.
Such is the life of a football fan these days I guess. Gone are the days of transfer fees (and even contract lengths) being reported. I shall just sit back and try to enjoy the football on offer rather than concern myself with off-field matters
So when do we think the kits will be released?

Pressley came in under Evans, not Revell.

And if you look at our entire squad our recruitment has been pretty good for a few years now under Leon, who got a huge amount of stick when we were really poor and signed a lot of shit players who were never good enough under Tisdale, Smith, Sheringham, Westley IV, Sarll and Maamria.
I think it was Westley who said one in three recruits will turn out crap, especially if you are having to find emerging talent, and thats without the injury factor.

It's noticeable now that a lot fewer of our former players drop to Conference North/South level or below or seemingly disappear off the face of the planet as soon as they leave.

Yep, you can watch almost any L2 game on TV and see an ex Boro player most weeks.

Saw a tweet the other day that praised Southend United's Noor Husin.
He was one of the millions of players who came in during the 2019-20 season and made minimal to no impact. Strange how it pans out.

At the right level players like Noor are very good. But their lack of technical ability and speed of thought very quickly get found out as they move upwards.
People like me, who think they know football (because they played a dozen Sunday morning games and five-a-side weekly for 15 years, and watch Stevenage), really don't appreciate mate the qualities needed to make a living at EFL level.

I'll remember his great performance in Cambridge that evening. Apart from that, another striker who lacked consistency. Good luck Aaron!
