I wonder who we'll bring on loan next season to ensure that TAH is number 2 yet again

A real shame. Happy with Taye in goal for this season however Cooper was a class above and it showed on the few occasions Taye stepped in last season.
He’ll no doubt smash it at Barnsley. Too good for L1 really.

He really wasn’t. Not much between them.
Taye came back from injury and had sporadic games across the season. Given a proper run he’d have been just as good as he always has been.
Cooper was good enough to not be dropped, and we probably had to pay more for him if he wasn’t playing too.
Taye’s a very good keeper. Would be stupid to sign another first team keeper unless he was on the way out.

Incredible how some people instantly forgot how immense Taye was for us across the two seasons he played regularly, pulling off many phenomenal saves (Northampton away on the opening day when we finally actually won there for the first time ever, anybody?) and keeping clean sheets on a regular basis (which wasn't entirely down to the defence because those who replaced him didn't keep them), and who just refer back to the match at home to Wycombe where he had one wobbly game, and make out like that is what he is always like.

My only concern for Taye is his injury record.
Other than that, a quality keeper.

Knowing how our fanbase operates after years of experience and seeing it happen many times before, I can absolutely guarantee that what will happen here is that every time Taye makes a minor mistake, they will moan like mad and at the same time suggest that Cooper never made them and was perfect. Happens every time we have a decent and popular loanee, people's memories are warped into remembering them as being far better than they were.
Which isn't in any way to suggest he wasn't/isn't a top keeper who will have a good career and a high level, but he wasn't faultless, and I don't remember an endless highlight real of top drawer saves he kept pulling off.

TAH is our best GK since Chris Day over the course of a full season. Not perfect but over 30+ games, no doubt.
I will not be taking questions.

People forget about Jamie Cumming. Probably wouldn't be in the Football League without him.

Incorrect. Murphy was good but made mistakes himself. Wasn't a class above. Both good L1 goalkeepers.

Interesting that forum funny man dislikes Taye so much! Well, more interesting than your usual schtick. Wag1 Waspy? Did Tarquin nick your Beano in the playground? Something against public school types?

Hmm, seems strange that he’d be loaned to a club in the same division, even further from home, rather than joining us again.
Would understand if it was a permanent move.

Murphy’s a 𝗞𝗘𝗘𝗣𝗘𝗥 🧤✍️
Goalkeeper Murphy Cooper has signed a contract extension with QPR.
Cooper's new deal comes following a hugely productive loan spell at Stevenage in League One last season, where the 23-year-old kept 16 clean sheets in 40 appearances.
Murphy's time with Stevenage followed another successful loan at Swindon Town in 2023/24.
"I'm really, really, really pleased," said Cooper, who has been with the R's since the age of 10.
"I've been at QPR a long time and I want to continue to be here, so I was delighted when the club offered me a new contract - I was itching to sign it.
"I love it here."
Speaking about his impressive campaign at Stevenage, Cooper added: "I want to do as well as I can to come back and play here.
"I really enjoyed my time at Stevenage and it was probably the best season I've had so far - the highest level I've played at, too.
"I played 40 games, kept quite a few clean sheets and put in some good performances, so it was brilliant for me. It was a great squad, good management and I really fitted in well and enjoyed my time there. I'm really happy with how my season went."
While Murphy has his eyes firmly set on becoming QPR's number one goalkeeper, he admits he is not averse to enjoying another spell out on loan in 2025/26.
He said: "It's just about bridging the gap to eventually be the number one here. I just need to keep going, keep playing and keep improving.”
QPR CEO Christian Nourry commented: "We were super impressed by Murphy's progression at Stevenage, where he further developed his shot-stopping and defensive capacity from set-pieces.
"We believe in his long-term potential - he deserves this new contract."

Not that baffling at all as others have pointed out.
We have a keeper who is more than good enough.

Bigger clubs and profile.
And maybe we have decided to stick with TAH as no.1, which I'm more than happy with.

Rule of thumb is that TAH isn't allowed to be first choice.

Or Barnsley are offering to cover a higher % of his wages than us, and they expect them to be challenging nearer the top than us

Murphy is great and I'd be delighted to see him back here. But Taye is also great; no issue at all with Taye as number 1 this year
