Chem Campbell in da house. Pleased about this, looks like he’s got something about him and clearly a prospect having been at Wolves.

I’m guessing he checked back every time there was space to be attacked and completed numerous short side ways and backwards passes. Enough to convince Revs that he was his man

Has Houghton got a history of being captain?
Listening to his interview he appears very articulate and intelligent and talks about "being the manager's voice on the pitch", "getting the manager's message across and being vocal, leading those around him" etc.
Footballer interviews are generally generic dull nonsense, but he comes across really well.

Presume the club are on the phone night and day offering Pressley and Simpson to Conf North/South clubs in a bid to free up wages for Earley

Very true Andy, he is very young and when he pulls out all the stops for us he'll be worth a fortune.
We should give him our full backing.

I would like to see Simpson in our squad. He needs more game time and as someone else has said, in him there is a striker waiting to be unleashed. We should keep him! As for Earley, if he can keep fit then he will be dynamite up the left wing. When he was here before he rode challenges and skipped past openents with such bravery and speed....incredible to watch...great player.

Problem with that is that even if on frees likely to be salary drop so player unlikely to agree.Couuld be Colchester and Barrow interested in them still so possible free transfers or loans again , on the latter if they pay salary.

I doubt either are among the higher earners at the club (especially Simpson) but neither would command substantial transfer fees.
Both need a run of games which they won't get in League 1 so loan or permanent exits would be for the best.

Saxon v Butler
Views: 1307
I reckon if Revell plays his usual 4-3-3
Then he will use Butler
If he plays like the last few games and plays 5-3-2
Then I reckon he will play Saxon as a wing back to compliment Luther
Opinion ??

Pleased with this. We’ve got the depth at left back we need and he’s a proven quantity. Hopefully on a deal that recognises his last couple of injury hit seasons and will reward him if he stays fit and performs well. Could be a winner all round.

Decent signing irrespective of his first spell. Can cover the whole left hand side and some genuine competition for Butler.

If he comes back the same player, he's streets ahead of Butler. You could even play them both down the left though.

Re: Saxon Earley

That would require us to play wingers in a 442 or 451
To misquote Mike Bassett we will be playing 4-3-fucking-3
Our holes may be round, our pegs may not be.
Good signing if he stays fit, very good, (absolute waste of money if he doesn't obviously)

It’s certainly a good signing if he stays fit. But it’s a big old if.
Flashscores suggest he’s played 10 league games since leaving us.

Are you excited about this signing?
Cautiously optimistic at best. Saxon Earley clearly has potential, but it's hard to overlook the fact that his last two seasons have been significantly disrupted by injury. That lack of consistent game time raises questions about both his match sharpness and long-term durability. Until he proves he can stay fit and contribute consistently, it's difficult to view this as more than a depth signing with upside.

Holroyd scored on his debut at home and got 3 in his next game at Hereford, the ground with the narrowest turnstiles in the world.

We've long needed someone in DM who can complement Louis *or* Dan P, receiving ball from defence on the half-turn and playing forwards. A playmaker. Hopefully Jordan can be the one? He certainly has an impressive pedigree! Encouraging to see thoughtful business done early
