Boro in Europe?

By Balders (BALDOCKBORO)3/6 12:04Tue Jun 3 12:04:26 2025

Have any Boro players gone on to play in one of mainland Europe's top leagues? (Spain, Italy, Germany, France or even Netherlands).

Obviously some have played PL or old Division 1 before or after pulling on rhe Boro shirt.

And I'm sure pretty some have played top flight in lesser leagues such as Australia, USA, Canada Norway etc.

It's kinda crazy we had him on loan. We didn't appreciate how good he is, mainly because Sir Chris Day was on the bench.

Definitely a club legend for scoring against Wycombe.

Who can forget Kaylen Hinds' spectacular £2m move to Wolfsburg and single Bundesliga appearance immediately after playing for us?

Kaylen Hinds agent maybe the best in the world.

Whilst Wolfsburg have the worst scouts in existence

Looking at his figures on wiki it's quite funny.

https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kaylen_Hinds

Up until recently the most he had played was for us. In 8 years only played as season's worth of games and scored 3 goals.

And he's still only 27!

Everyone's favourite Lithuanian winger Deimantas Petravicius played in Poland and Kazakhstan outside of his two-game spell with us. And Queen of the South, but that's less exotic

If we're talking Scotland, David Gray wins hands down. Captained Hibernian to promotion to the SPL and scored a stoppage time winner in the Scottish Cup final. Also now their manager.

Keinan Davis is in Italy with Udinese. Though he was only ever a youth player here.

Edit: Ben Wilmot also played for Udinese on loan in Serie A.

Chuks Aneke played in the Belgian Pro League (Zulte Waregem)

Elding played for Ferencvarosi in Hungary, though I don't think they were in the top flight at the time

Ferencvaros had just got promoted back to the Hungarian top flight when Elding played there, and Sam Wedgbury also made appearances that season due to a tie-up they had with Sheffield United at the time.

Still funny to me that his name sometimes gets mentioned in 'worst signing ever' discussions by both Leeds and Preston fans.
