Assume must be to 27 or 28 then. I have no issue with him , although injury has not helped, but if you do not create chances he won't score .

He'd be an uninspiring signing, although would add squad depth and can do a job. On balance probably a good but boring signing if we go for him

If we can get him relatively cheaply I'd be happy enough. Squad player rather than a starter, unless we play a pair of central strikers, any two from him, Reid and Young.
Play him in a 3 and he'll struggle to make an impact in terms of goals.

Reality is you choose the best from the options in hand. We don't know the options. Club know how Hanlan integrated with the squad. That'll be a key factor.
I saw real class in patches: great technique and explosive pace and power. But nowhere near the level of consistency that we need. IMO the judgement is whether he can gain consistency with a good pre-season and run of matches. Was he gaining fitness during his time at Boro, or running near his peak?

Most of our strikers struggle in a 3 as they're playing out of position most of the time.

As I said elsewhere yes if we can offload Pressley and Simpson to perhaps free up budget for another striker.

Those two would attract at best a small fee and their combined wages wouldn't pay for a mediocre striker would be my guess.
But every little helps.

He is as a squad player within the playing budget.
A top-end L1 striker is well outside of the budget for a transfer fee and wages. The only chance of getting that is striking gold with someone from the lower leagues like Wycombe have with Richard Kone.

Good news.
Cheaper to extend his contract than to buy another player with a similar record. Hopefully he’ll have a better season next term with a full pre-season behind him. Hopefully he’ll be in a more coherent team that offers him increased/better chances to convert too.

Yes if we can get rid of Pressley and Simpson plus then add another. But if we can't offload them not sure , possible better options out there , maybe a loan

I'd rather Reid than someone from lower L2/Conf inexperienced at this level, or coming down from the championship with an injury history.
Form hasn't been as good this season, but a good addition to the squad.

With Revs track record of signing strikers i’d rather keep Reidy over signing a Femi Akinwande or Marcus Dinanga

He's going to go great guns next season now he's lulled the defenders into a false sense of security with six months of ambling around expecting both the ball to magically appear on his instep, and him to magically appear in the box when it happens.

He'a 30 in July , assume we would not be offering a new contract to a squad filler , we will try to ditch Pressley and Simpson band get another striker in

31 in July.
I was joking regarding the squad player bit. Hopefully he can refind his form when he was good was 5 months. The injury he had didn't help so perhaps with a proper pre season etc he can get back to good form.
It's hard to judge any striker the way we play.

Red wine.
Seriously, if he can find his mojo and is played in the right set-up, he'll get 12-15 goals.
But an improved contract?
Was he being sought by other clubs? Does he really deserve a pay rise and an extension? Is he a really saleable asset?

He got nine goals this season, despite everybody on here making out he was the worst player ever.
So to get to your 12 goal mark wouldn't take much, in fact just being fit at the start of the season would be enough.

Reid knows how to stick a ball in the net - the hardest and most important part of the game. Best not to lose our goalscorers!

Very true.
Would you, a gambling man bet on him getting 12+ if it were priced at evens?
I'm not sure I would even at 2-1.

Improved can mean a lot of things though.
Could just be getting £50 more on a goal bonus.

Could just be fixed 2 year rather than 1+1, or any other kind of bonus change, maybe a promotion bonus etc, to be 'improved'. Doesn't necessarily mean it has a basic pay uplift

No on most of those but he's happy with a pay rise, cost of living crisis and all.
Doubt he has any resale value, that ship has sailed.
Hopefully he gets back to some of his old form. If not we're in trouble as he'll play most weeks.

Fantastic news. *Love* watching Reidy when he's on it. I'm expecting great things next season.
Also great for our younger fans, to whom Reid is a hero! Bit of a hero of mine too LOL! So many magic memories. Think the goals at Cambridge, Northampton and Villa, among many more!
(Baldock: I'd go with Roberts and Reid as wide forwards and Jake Young through the middle... but what do I know?!)
