Someone we can beat to get points on the board early. Burton maybe.

Would rather Mansfield or Northampton for this.
Burton will be considerably higher than 20th next season if they keep and back Bowyer.

Just want it out the way early so we can get on with our season without obsessing over creating a rivalry from a derby that Luton really don't care about.

Let the youngsters have their fun, it's always good to have minor 3CR bragging rights.
Phil Wallace is already seeing the pound signs.

Absolutely let the younger element who create most of the atmosphere enjoy their day.
Get it done early, bin off any that take it too far and bring the club into disrepute, then everyone knows where the line is and we crack on towards mid table again, but ideally with more goals.

Don't think we have to pay for anything outside ground ? Think a force took a test case against a club to court on this and lost ?

Correct, basically. There are nuances around what is chargeable and what isn't. It gets quite complex at bigger events and lawyers get rich arguing about it on both sides.
But police get around this basic premis to an extent by insisting at the safety advisory group meeting which 'authorises' the fixture on X number of officers in the ground or primarily being deployed to be available to deploy into the footprint of the ground. Even if they don't get sent in, they are there as a public safety contingency.
And if the club don't pay for the additional ones, you do, from your council tax, whether you attend or not.

cheers but on your final para I assume then most clubs Inc PL refuse to meet the extra charge, if they can.? So the local council taxpayers do.

They argue. And they compromise. The clubs don't want the adverse publicity of a public row about public safety, and they need to keep the safety advisory group sweet because if they don't the SAG will just put incremental demands on them next time.
Plenty of ways to skin a cat.

I said today Cardiff away would be a good first game of the season. That or Blackpool away as it'll still be summer.

Cardiff's the longest trip I'm considering doing so might as well get it done before I change my mind.

No reason for that to happen as there will be no Prem or Champ games on.

They may stagger them so each league is at a different time, but didn't do so yesterday for some reason so may not, and they will be able to televise all games at 3pm on a Saturday on opening day.
From memory we have only ever started away about three times in the EFL, so it'll probably be another home game.

Last year Championship was 12:30, League 2 15:00 and League 1 17:30, plus lots of other games Friday and sunday
https://www.efl.com/news/2024/august/08/how-to-watch-every-game-on-the-opening-day-of-the-2024-25-season/
As you say, with Championship not starting until the weekend after next season, there will probably be League 1 and 2 games moved to the Friday and Sunday and all of one leagues Saturday fixtures will probably be 12:30 and the other 15:00
