3pm football Blackout
Views: 963
Apparently doesn’t apply when the EFL and Sky Sports feel like it 🤷🏻♂️
All L1 games which kick off on Saturday at 3pm this weekend are live on sky sports https://x.com/efl/status/1916870025551688188?s=46

Chuds has posted in the past that the blackout rule is that it applies when 50%+ off the Prem and championship are playing at the time, games can't be shown on tv.
So a normal fixture schedule, there are 22 games (10 prem and 12 champ). About half the prem and 4 champ games get moved, leaving you with 5 prem and 8ish champ games at 3pm, so the blackout is in place.
This Saturday, all the championship games are at 12.30, and there's only 2 prem games at 3pm, so the blackout doesn't apply. Same reason why it doesn't apply in international breaks because it's 0% of those games are being played.
Edit: further, national league north and south have already finished, and the final round of the national league is on Monday at 3pm, so removing the blackout does not affect attendances for those games

Not entirely true.
It is only in place if a certain number of matches in the PL and Championship are being played at 3pm on a Saturday.
With all Champ games being at 12:30, and plenty of PL on Sunday, it isn't in effect.

Apparently the home club gets to decide whether a rescheduled match is televised or not.
We said no and Brum said yes.

Thanks, I assume as they would sell out regardless but we hoped a few more might then attend , but not sure we put that out that enough to Joe Public .Fed up with the TV deal already myself

I'm loving it, saving me a packet even though I never properly watch it when it's on my phone

Same, I have it on the TV and still don't properly watch. But then there hasn't been much action to watch this season.

Because it wasn't worth them paying the tv camera and commentators to cover it when 5 people would be watching what with all the other sport that was on tv Sunday afternoon

There were still the usual three cameras in operation so no difference there.

Actually on that would be interesting if a table was out of how many subscribers watched all EFL games during season for each game . Realise won't happen.
