Are people not allowed two clubs any more?
When we were tinpot half our fanbase had a big club.
Maybe, now we are proper, we should have Boro and a tinpot club like Biggleswade or Cambridge.

I would say you are a fan of only one club but you may take an interest in another club for valid reasons eg you may live in that area or have a past connection etc.

Stevenage folk have always supported teams that win things, especially those close to home.

Charlie Goode is far more of a problem, and in my eyes more of a liability than Dan Sweeney, as he had demonstrated a lot. And can't even play multiple games.

Sweeney is far better than Goode. I’ don’t understand why Sweeney gets so much hate

He had a much better second half, but so did everybody else!
Seeing their keeper throw a paddy at FT was brilliant, time wasting wankers.

A theme of the last two seasons seems to be we tail off or run out of steam in the second half of the season. Is this a fitness thing or a confidence thing, something else?
It'd be nice to be a bit more consistent across the season.

I figured that teams were somewhat "figuring us out" the second time we played them when it happened under Evans, which was obviously in a side that was more successful.
This season it has felt like we were limping to 50 points and then the shackles have somewhat come off in the last couple of weeks.
There will always be a call from fans for transfers to be done in January to fix any problem areas and avoid becoming stale/predictable in lineups/formations/tactics, but we haven't been able to bring in anyone that has had a particular impact during the winter window for a good while and should be working on becoming more versatile/adaptable with the resources we have already in the squad (injuries permitting)

Not sure the January transfers have ever improved us as a team, usually players that are unhappy at their club, recovering from injury or their club wants rid.

One of them is fine for a club of our stature, but agreed that I hope both of them are not here next season, and I would side with keeping Sweeney of thw two because he can at least play regularly.
Need a pacey CB, a creative midfielder, a pacey wide player, a striker, and GK and RB cover. To replace/improve on the departing Cooper, Smith, King, List and Pressley/Simpson, plus to improve on Goode/Sweeney.
Don't need more than that, we have the core to work with, just need to improve around it.

So assume you feel we will offer new contracts of sort to Freeman and JFC, think both out of contract, but could be wrong.

Re: Bring back Murphy Cooper
Views: 172
Freeman is worth giving a 1 year deal if he's out of contract but anything longer than that depends on his injury recovery and return to the team.
JFC would be a pay-as-you-play at best but otherwise move on due to his injury record, as ruthless as that sounds.

Freeman I assume if an ACL and based on JFC and List recoveries probably would be out whole or most of next season,

Re: Bring back Murphy Cooper

Freeman's versatility and dependability in multiple positions is the reason I'd take the calculated risk of a 1 year extension.

The club hasn’t gone backwards. We’ve just finished lower than last season. There needs to be more clarity of intention on the pitch next season. Hopefully we get that and it leads to better entertainment and a higher finish. It hasn’t been a bad season, it hasn’t been a very entertaining one either.

Well put Tucks.
Every clubs fans, outside of automatic promotion, will be saying similar.
Can you imagine what Rotherham fans will be saying having to put up with that dross, especially when it backfired at the last knockings.
League one status secured, we go again in August.

Fully expecting the board (and fans) to demand far more from Revs next season, in terms of entertainment and goalscoring, so the start of next season will be his big test.
This season was all about ensuring some stability and maintaining our League One status after losing the manager and majority of the coaching team that brought us success in the previous seasons, which could easily have led to us falling apart and being relegated (Crawley, anybody?).

Yeah this. Job done really.
Worried for Louis. Players who've been through injuries know their bodies. I didn't like the way he went down. Louis is probably our best player...
Some other thoughts:
I like Jake Young. Must frustrate the hell out of a manager, but there's real talent in there.
Find of the season is Lewis Freestone. He looks old skool, but he's athletic, strong and feisty. Well done Lewis.
There has to be a place in the Boro team for Jordan Roberts.
We've been running a squad of injury prone players (for understandable reasons - wouldn't sign otherwise!) but it makes it hard for Revs to seek consistency.
Now for the summer. I reckon we can't judge the forwards fairly until they have a *proper* L1 midfield behind them.

Imagine a club slightly regressing under an inexperienced manager starting out in a managerial career compared to one who has been managing at a decent level for 20 years.
MADNESS.

Quite right, Chuds. The best form of defence is attack, especially when you know you are wrong. As I recall, Revs has now had two and a half years to show he can't do the job. Can't think of another 'rookie' who would get that long.

What's the best way to win football matches?
Is it to concede fewer goals than the opposition at all costs, or score more than them...
It's a conundrum.

Ha! Yes: when he bought Sweeney on, we were joking that he was trying to defend a 1-0 defeat. Then we noticed he was putting Sweens up front and we all kinda went ‘WTF? How’s THAT supposed to work?!…’
Ohhh…! #Revballgenius
(As an aside, I didn’t even see the goal! So bored was I, and so convinced that we were never gonna score even if the match lasted a year, that I was idly scrolling through my phone when the cheer went up. Oh well, I’ll see it on the highlights I s’pose…)
