No. Not my better half. Michael Duff sacked by Huddersfield after four defeats in five. No surprise who the odd team out in that sequence was

Why don't MK Dons , Huddersfield and Barnsley just rotate the 3 between them 😊

Looking it up, Phil Parkinson is the only other manager to have lost two league games to us this season (Shrewsbury changed managers between games). Tick tock.

Amazing isn’t it. Sacked for a blip that sees you drop out of the playoffs. We should be so lucky! Chance’d be a fine thing. The field of Hudders must have considerably bigger expectations than we do.

Of course they have higher expectations than we do, they're a much bigger club than we are. Most clubs in this league are much bigger than we are. Why can't people see this?

With the way the club is set up we are punching well above our weight. To progress further we would need a huge injection of cash that is sustained over many years, because we won't be self sustaining due to our income. Xsolla want us in the Championship allegedly but can't see that without many millions being spent. And who's paying??

No chance of AVC , ie Avery being involved ? Say given the past connection and The Valley School thing.

If you mean me, I think you’ve misunderstood. Of course they’ve got bigger expectations than us - I was being a bit tongue/in-cheek with that last sentence - I was more interested in the perspective. They’re just 6 places ahead of us, yet dropping out of the playoffs spots is considered failure. This from a manager who has had them in the top 6 all season. It makes the Boro feel remarkably steady under Revs and while his achievements are seen as a mixed bag by us ‘Chatists, we are so obviously overachieving and Revs is doing a pretty good job holding us consistently in midtable. Thank goodness we don’t have that weight of expectation on us. What a pressure. It really could be far worse for us than what we have now.

Re: Up the Duff

Well, yes, they were relegated from the Championship last season, have an infinitely larger budget and better squad than us and are performing far below expectations, whereas most fans thought we would get relegated but we are comfortably midtable, and not only that, but top half.
Edit: Amusing also how Lindsey and Duff were two of the names most bandied about on here during the summer as being who people wanted to join us, and both have been sacked in the past week for underperforming (whilst Ainsworth, the last of the three names people wanted, has guided his new side to bottom of the table).
Performance and entertainment wise Revs and our team are really not offering much up for us, and it is something of a grind, but results wise things are really going quite okay, and we are heading for our second-highest average attendance ever, and our second or third highest-ever finish. Careful what we wish for.

I think because I was expecting Revs to be an unmitigated disaster, particularly when we started well and tailed off pretty quickly as I'd also expected, he's doing a good job as far as I'm concerned and I'm in no rush to see the back of him. I've seen what happens when the baton gets fumbled in League One...
Our more optimistic fans are the ones being punished.

Or...fumbled and dropped in the case of Sherringham.
To be completely honest, I'm content or have hardened to our performances. By not having any preconceived notions of promotion only a fear of relegation anything better is a bonus.
When we do have outstanding performances then that keeps me very happy. I feel it is a privilege to play against the Birmigham's, Barnsley's and Wrexham's...look how far we have come since our club was formed 50 years ago next year.

There's a lot to be said for inconsistent form and mid table obscurity.
But the season does feel rather flat and has done for many weeks now, knowing in January we were unlikely to go up or down. It just feels a bit dull.
Do I want him to go? No. Absolutely not.
Would I be sad if he went? Not really.

I would be amazed if his release clause didn't include a caveat that he cannot come and get any of our players.
MacDonald is the only one who joined him, but he was out of contract.
Plus of course he fell out with a number of them in January...

Not sure such a clause would be remotely enforceable, altho' you do see it reported a lot. Gentleman's agreement maybe?
Once he leaves, his new employer is free to seek to purchase the registration of whoever they like surely?
It's only a few trades where you can't poach when you move, like hairdressers being barred from openly taking old clients to a new salon with them.
(Which they all do anyway).

Re: Up the Duff

Not remotely comparable, particularly as he owned Farnborough, and the players were registered to his company, not Farnborough FC.
GW moving to PNE is more comparable, where he didn't take any players until the following season.

I thought player registrations in England could only be held by secretaries of FA registered clubs?
Which was what caused the Tevez & Mascherano issue when their registration was 'owned' by his agent or agency.
No idea whether that applied way back and way down the leagues tho'.
