Away from home against the other six sides in the top 7, we are W0 D0 L6. Our away record against everybody else is W9 D3 L1.
At home against the top 7 we are W2 D2 L0 (Bolton and Barnsley still to come). W6 D5 L3 to the rest.
This is why I suspect if we do make the playoffs that we will fall short. We would likely draw or win by the odd goal at home, but lose away. Against Derby, Bolton, Barnsley and Posh we gave them a right good go in the away game and shouldn't have lost any, but lost them all. The top sides put away their chances, we don't. We very much appear to have reached our ceiling.

I believe that we should have young talented , but unproven players already in the squad, ready to replace the misfiring forwards who will be tempted away in the close season. I think their contracts were only extended for value terms and not for irreplaceable talent.
We do not appear to have done this and seem a bit exposed for when the Chuds' view becomes a reality.

Signing young but relatively unproven forwards on permanent deals is expensive, even in League 1. This will only get worse with the teams who could come up (Mansfield, Stockport, Wrexham, MK Dons).
To give a couple of examples, we rejected a £170,000 bid from Exeter for Pressley in January (having spent a transfer fee to sign him in the summer) and Oxford spent £400,000 on a 21? year old striker from Cheltenham with a hand full of goals to his name.

Yeah totally agree. That's exactly where we are at. As I said before, if we somehow negotiate two legs, we will be shafted by the big Wembley pitch.

I should add that the above isn't a criticism. We are punching above our weight and doing remarkably well.
As I have said a couple of times lately, in January when they needed a striking option Derby added Dwight Gayle. When we needed one we added Vadaine Oliver. We cannot compete for players with clubs like Pompey, Derby, Bolton, Posh.

Fully agree - We are doing really well based on our home attendance numbers and on all of our expectations at the start of the L1 season.
Unfortunately Oliver, Hemmings and as yet, Pressley, are not L1 so we rely heavily on BGR with a few from JR and elsewhere.
The opposition know that and plan accordingly.

I think the whole squad has pretty much proven it is league one quality, evidenced by our lofty position.
I think what people actually mean is they're not league one promotion quality.

The majority (just) are. If we don't go up, which might well be considered a blessing and is certainly a strong probability, a few clever additions in the summer would make next season very interesting.

Yeah it's not a criticism at all. It's brilliant where we are and how high we are punching. The club is developing nicely. I wish we'd not always go for what seems cheap option/ false economy off the pitch, but that's just a small criticism. As long as we keep within our prudent budgets and the players give their all (like last night), that's good enough for me. Peterborough are the kind of club we should be aspiring to become. A regular fixture at this level, with gates that we could realistically acheive, if we keep the same rate of progression over the next decade.
