We had a little blip this time last season, then we smashed everyone. Let's suck it up for a few weeks and then enjoy the run in

I think we looked tired after Saturday. They were scrappy and physical and we couldn’t cope throughout 90. Unfortunately for us after they went 0-1 up they just set out to frustrate us and catch us on the counter.
Had this been standard Saturday fixture I think we’d have trounced them. The stats don’t lie and we absolutely dogged them. Apart from the Sweeney god-like block, they had f*ck all, which makes it all the more frustrating they walk away with a win from an own goal…
Just a shame that the team put their all into a hard fought win at the weekend to be rewarded with this

How we laughed at the irony of them singing about filling up our ground.
I hope they go bust.
As for the game. First 10 minutes poor. Next 30 Pretty good. Last 50 utter gash.

Utter gash. I’m commenting on 50 minutes of football not the Evans tenure. For me, it was really poor. Conditions were bad, but they were also bad in the first half.

I thought we did enough to get something. Much more football played tonight than Saturday (which was a season low for me)
TVC isn’t a full back. Reading defended well all night as we did. Neither team cut it upfront but think we had the better of the chances.
Settled by an OG says it all. Nothing has changed in the league and it’s either opportunity missed with Peterborough losing or parity remained

Think that is a bit harsh, but very few can be happy with their performance (Pidge aside).
MacGillivray was dogshit tonight. I do not understand why Taye has been dropped AGAIN. It is fucking ridiculous and the only thing Evans consistently gets wrong IMO.

Totally agree, as discussed in the 1976 Suite on Saturday. It’s an annoying quirk of Steven’s that he feels the need to unnecessarily push TAH in this way

Not necessarily disagreeing, just curious what made you single him out for criticism.

Re: Match thread v Reading

There were two occasions where he was insanely slow coming out, that nearly led to them scoring, and his communication with the backline also caused issues on numerous occasions (which Evans said led to their goal, but then said no blame is to be apportioned for it). They are things that cannot be blamed on the conditions, they were basics and were him not reading the action/being too hesitant. Taye is very quick and very good at coming out.
Don't get me wrong, I am fully aware he is a very good keeper, I have seen it many times, but he was very poor last night and poor at Wigan (was good against Blackpool), and is not an improvement on Taye. Plus I just don't see what Taye has done to be replaced, there is no reason for it, and even less reason to do so with a loanee. There simply has to be more to it.

I agree with you Nathan, as I tend to do about most things other than the final placings in the much lamented Prediction Competition. Taye has more clean sheets than a six-star hotel, so on the face of it replacing him with a reject (presumably) from the league below seems bizarre.
By the same token, is Hemmings injured? Oliver may be slightly better in the air but his work rate doesn't compare.
We probably deserved to draw the last two games, so on balance three points rather than two is a bonus.
Reading had beaten Derby and drawn at Oxford recently and are clearly better than their league position.
They are still the only tram outside the top 8 to beat us this season.

Totally agree with this, particularly "Plus I just don't see what Taye has done to be replaced" said this to my mate at the game. TAH is by no means an average GK let alone a poor one, so for him to be benched is confusing.

His kicking frustrated me as well towards the end. Just kept hoofing it straight to their goalkeeper.
Mind you Taye gives me a heart attack everytime he kicks the ball in open play.

Even Pidge was starting to lose the flight of some of the balls later on, although how he got himself out of his own mess when he could've booted it for a throw in the second half and Reading shut down his options is beyond me.

I genuinely don't think we were bad.
We had the lion's share of the chances and a part from that goal against the run of play and a brief period in the second half we were all over them.
Reading back over some Reading comments even their fans say something to similar effect.
What killed us was how wasteful we were with the chances we had.
But it's a Tuesday, the conditions were awful, and honestly sometimes these things happen in football.
Am I disappointed we missed the chance to climb above Barnsley and close the gap to 1pt off Posh? Yeah.
Are we still comfortably in the playoffs with a game in hand?
Absolutely.
We were slated to go down during the summer. We're in the playoffs with games in hand on almost everyone around us.
Last night wasn't ideal but lets keep positive.

That being said it's football and how many times have sides fighting for survival got results against the run of play at teams in the top portion of the table?
Not the biggest fan of Reading but with what they're going through with their owners I don't begrudge them the win as long as it doesn't cost us the playoffs.
