Thankfully a mistake by Coker early wasn't punished.

4-3-3 tonight, lines on the right of the 3, I'd prefer him central to Taylor who can't pass.

This football is absolutely dreadful. They seem even more intent on playing long balls than under Revs. The midfield doesn't support the forwards, so playing long ball is fucking pointless. Seriously poor.

Why isn't Arthur Read playing? Why is Andrade playing?

Some peculiar selections from Tisdale.

Completely agree. Although I really do believe that Tisdale is trying new things to get a good idea for what he wants to do come the January window. I completely agree about the midfield. I’m going out on a limb here, but for me, I’ve been disappointed in both Taylor and Reeves. Reeves I thought would produce so much this season, hits a 50 yard diagonal once in a while but IMO doesn’t produce. Hardly any assists or goals to go along with that. I think Taylor will get better with more time under Tisdale, but for me wasn’t good tonight, a lot of wasted ball was given away. We’ve actually got a good group of strikers up the top end of the pitch, it’s almost like they’re having to create their own play for themselves at the moment.

I would probably agree with most disappointing. I assume he is there to break up the opposition's play in midfield. He does that, but so often it's an aimless hoof or flick that usually results in returning possession to them. Maybe he would be better in a properly functioning midfield...

Given some of the bizarre decisions he's made already, I'm not particularly optimistic. Was far more impressed with ROK.

That being said, he'll need time to figure out who plays best where, and who the weak links are. Another game littered with errors from individual players. Hopefully he'll weed those players out soon.

Playing Lines right midfield.
Showing Andrade the light of day.

To a lesser extent, playing both Prosser and Coker when Melbourne could have been playing instead of one of them. And leaving Read on the bench when our play is so lacklustre and pedestrian. I also thought the long ball while playing a 4-3-3 shows a complete lack of understanding of what is required to play an effective 4-3-3.

His post match interview makes him sound more like Revs than ROK.

Like I said though, he hasn't watched us all season like we have, so it will probably take time for him to realise how utterly garbage half the team is.

Not sure I’d call them bizarre.

He obviously thinks that RB needs strong cover in front of it.

Andrade was picked every game by ROK too wasn’t he?

Obviously giving him a last gasp chance before he gets fucked off in Jan.

Playing Chris Lines right midfield is bizarre for multiple reasons, irrespective of how shit Luther may or may not be.

Lines is the slowest player we have had since Greg Fucking Tansey. That's not necessarily a bad thing, since he's the player that everyone thought Simon Walton and Greg Fucking Tansey were. You know, actually good. That being said, speed and playing on the wing don't go together. Not unless you're David Beckham. But even then, that was the 90s and things were very different then. Lines also is not David Beckham.

On top of that, Lines is by far the best passer on the team. It's not even close. So why waste him by putting him right midfield, when it would make far more sense to put Reeves on the right. It would even make more sense to put Taylor right midfield, although that would still be bizarre.

If anything, I actually think putting Lines in front of Luther makes it worse. Lines is too slow to provide any genuine cover for him. Especially since Luther's favourite thing to do is give the ball away and then slip over trying to recover.

There is absolutely zero rational justification for putting Lines right midfield. I'm not saying that makes Tisdale a bad manager, but it's very bizarre.

Yeah, you're right about Andrade being picked by ROK. But I refuse to believe that the entire Stevenage viewing population is wrong about him. He is objectively shit. I bet he's class in training, cos he's a flash in the pan, but it doesn't take long to realise what a complete waste of space he is during matches. I give Tisdale 5 games to work out that he's useless, and that's 4 games and 80 minutes longer than he should realistically need.

In summary, this game perfect illustrates our problems over the past few years. Regardless of tactics or whatever, we really just have so many dog shit players, who simply don't care enough. If we were a race horse we would have been shot 3 years ago.

Looks like both these sides going down to me. Especially when if List fucks off in January. Wouldn't blame him for one second.
