Seeing the goal again, I actually think Taylor is the one who could have prevented it. He got drawn to the ball even though Vancooten was holding the Yeovil player up and had him facing away from goal. That meant Lo-Everton ran unnopposed through the middle, giving the player holding the ball up an easy inside pass.

I don't mind him if played in a good midfield. His job is to just break up shit. Wasn't great today as he kept giving the ball away.

But if our midfield wasn't so completely useless he'd be doing a needed job, nothing spectacular just tidying up and going unnoticed hopefully.

I'm hoping Tisdale can get the best out of him having known him from Exerer days.

I think we have 5-6. The obvious two are Read and List, although the latter was poor today. I think Vancooten is prone to the odd error, but is mostly solid and good enough for League Two. I also think Norris is good enough, and I think Lines can be good enough too. Im inclined to think Smith is good enough too. I think Barry is decent, we just haven't seen enough of him. Same with Melbourne.

Didn’t even notice him playing until he didn’t get a foot out to score from a yard out.

He’s by far our best player but was completely anonymous yesterday. Possibly due to service. But if you’re not getting service then maybe you need to step up and do something else.

I can agree that some of those can play in league 2, but they’re not the standard of player we want if we want any sort of success

We’ve been in the Play offs and had a couple of play off pushes and we know what it takes.

Players like TVC and Read are squad players at current ability who have potential. We need better

Read is no Parrett, Lee, Mous. Pett, Amos, Schuey

TVC is no Robbo, Ash, Bira, King.

This is true. That's why I "like" and like to keep the players with attributes I like in the belief that they've got the building blocks already they just need the coaching and direction.

A player who is terrible and one club can often go to another team and be great and you wonder why they were so terrible at your club.

We need to create a new club attitude within our club so they can show what they've actually got.

I really think this team needs to play 3-5-2.

Barry and Coker wing backs. Vancooten, Melbourne and one of the geriatrics making up the back 3. Then Reeves, Lines and Read in midfield. Then List and Norris up front.

We dont transition fast enough so the players are always left with no decent options. 3-5-2 is the best way to combat that, other than going 4-3-3, but that means List on the wing which is a waste.

Certainly agree with the midfield and strikers.

List and Norris are undeniably our best two striking options, Reid wastes so many good positions every single game. And Lines, despite his age, is our best midfielder by an absolute mile. Has to start whenever fit. Read actually looks to try to create things and Reeves starts for me because he isn't Taylor, who has been utter shit. As for Andrade and Osborne, absolute fucking wasters.

Absolutely done with most of this squad now. Twats.

I dont think Vancooten and Melbourne are really the calibre we need to push on BUT I do think that if we got a genuinely quality defender to play between them, they'd both be pretty solid.

They both have the odd error in them, but I dont think there are too many L2 defenders who don't. They're also reasonably fast, which is a nice bonus.

What they need is someone who's going to organize them through the game, and help them stay focused. That could limit the number of mistakes. Unfortunately, Cuthbert isn't that player, and Prosser certainly isn't. While both may be great leaders, neither possess the quality to be orchestrating our back line.

The players I would want to replace with proper players who play their positions are:

Andrade
Reid
Reeves
Osborne

Plus a younger centre back unless Marshall steps up.

Not really in terms of personnel. Cuthbert and Prosser will need replacing at some point.

It's pretty much the same defence that did so well last season.

I think it would be more important to change the system to protect them and reduce the likelihood of them making so many mistakes in dangerous areas.

I like the attributes of Vancooten, Wildin and Melbourne. Coker is ok. Cuthbert or Prosser provide the experienced head.

We've used different combinations etc and they still make the same mistakes that they weren't making last season.

If there are better defenders available, then sure, but wouldn't be my priority.

Totally agree
Defensively is not the biggest problem
Smith .?
It was always down to a mistake
Didn't think they looked like scoring upto then
We have no midfield. Not the 1st game
Taylor and Reeves nice players but dont win you games. Both too light weight
Elliott well give me strength.
Strengthen the middle of the park then you will see a difference.
IMO it cried out for lines, who would have probably found the balls to get List in the game
Reid should have levelled it
Dragging Prosser seemed strange
I heard he had only trained 1 day in the last 10days due to covid.
Vocal and organising without Scotty no one who can organise.
Disappointed but life goes on.
Bloody Cold
Good following for a change

Taking Prosser off changed the game in our favour. We went from flapping around to winning the ball high up the pitch with 3 strikers. Although he undid it 10 mins later when he subbed Reid off. And then the game went flat. I think if he had persevered with 3-4-3, and taken Andrade off instead of Reid, I think we'd have found the equalizer.

Midfield has always been a problem since we decided as a club never to employ a winger and just pack 4 centre midfielders into the team no matter what.

I agree, sort the midfield out and you solve both the defensive frailties and the lack of goals.

Don't think he got his knees dirty.
His Much better than you think imo
If TVC didn't have pace, he wouldn't be playing L2 .
But defensively is not a big problem imo
You Keep digging him out, just like me not being a fan of Reeves or Wildin I suppose.

I’m ordinarily of the opinion that preparation and tactics are important, but you’ve got a group here who are delighted to turn on the ball and receive it in their own half. They’re pretty at times, but there’s no final ball, no aggression off the ball and they’re passive and happy to have contracts. Unfortunately PASSION will win more football matches than adequate technique.

The last time we had any proper footballers was under Sarll. Lee, McAnuff, even Schumacher had guile and football brains.

Fuck knows what Tisdale does. I don’t care. We are just a bobbing nonentity, with no joy or direction. Southend away in 2015 was a big turning point

Another win for AIMITA today.

Just heard Tisdale's post match interview and I'm pretty sure he said the effort /attitude was there today. That's the first sign of worry I've got but perhaps as a new manager you dont want to publically slag off the players you're trying to motivate.

We need to bring Read on. And possibly Lines too. List might as well go off. And get Andrade off.

Was expecting Lines to start, not sure what stats show but feel like we are better when he plays.

Good options on the bench though.

May have picked a team suited to beat Yeovil, no idea about what they have to offer in terms of threats and weaknesses, just know they've got Wilkinson, Dale Gorman and Sarll.
