Club gestures

By Sev4/12/2021 11:24Sat Dec 4 11:24:57 2021

After a few fans have criticise the club for losing touch with the fans over the last few years (whether it true or not is another debate) I thought their good gestures should be recognised. From top of my head I can think of:

Today's free coach travel to Yeovil

Giving away free hot drinks (and even hats) at away games.

Releasing the 3rd shirt for sale after popular demand

Moving the sponsor logo on shirts after criticism.

We may not agree with all the on and off field decisions, but we arent a bad club.

Up the Boro!

Of course, a cynic could see these as trying to shut the gate after the horse has bolted in terms of alienating a portion of the fan base.

I don't disagree.

(Was more recognising the effort that some at the club must be making to try and keep fans as happy as possible under the circumstances, when the on field stuff isn't in their control, until January perhaps!)

On the subject of free travel, how much does a coach cost? £1000? I genuinely don’t know

Maybe the club could offer every December free travel for all away games during that month as a Christmas present to its supporters. It’s win win, fans have extra money for Christmas and we would take 250 instead of 100 to away games. Just a thought that the extra backing might help the team

I believe Stoke offer free coaches every game

Yes very well done to the club for its month of niceties
Big applauds and let’s hope the club continues this new approach

However I think criticism has been fair, and if they did a fan’s survey covering topics on field and off field related to the club, that feedback would be a very interesting read

Maybe the club have acted on its supporters dissatisfaction and are finally starting to make things better. We’ve now got an experienced manager and the club are trying it seems to build bridges with the supporter base but much more to do

The club has lost the connection with the fans ever since Teddy Sheringham was manager.

When Dino was appointed manager I thought that same connection would be back, but how wrong I was in my own opinion.

Unfortunately the club hasn’t been the same since that play off defeat at Southend.

The only positives that I feel has happened since the Southend game is, not being relegated to the national league when we finished bottom because of the Macclesfield problems, which absolutely felt wonderful knowing we had another season in the football league, even though the manager we had at the time was not the right man to take the club forward.

The other positive is that Wallace has finally appointed a manager with experience to hopefully take the club forward and under this new era under Paul Tisdale, the club can start gaining some success again in the future and the fans have something to look forward to in watching Boro both home and away games.

I think that loss of connection was inevitable as we looked to establish ourselves as a league club and a viable business given our small attendances.

If we were still a non league club we would still have that probably. It's a bit of a trade of.

Of course there are certain thing that could have been done very differently in hindsight.

Also: appointing an actual football manager to manage the football team

Next: reverting the badge back, reinstating the shuttle bus... ;)

I almost put getting a new manager haha.

Can't see the badge changing any time soon, it'd be far too costly and disruptive.

I can't see the badge changing either, more's the pity. I don't know any fans that like it. Sad really, I don't know why it was changed in the first place.

The badge has changed various times through history.

I liked the old one. I'm not bothered about the new one. Bigger things to worry about.

How many (boro super fans) can you name in that video?

I'd wager more than one.

And I don't personally know any of them. They aren't in the circle of people I interact with, whether it be here, social media or in real life about football. So no "I don't know any fans that like it".
