I was fairly disappointed when I saw the news. His football is fairly boring but can be effective.

Having slept on it however, I think some boring and effective football is just what we need so I'm on board. Fuck it.

Stevenage have parted ways with Paul Tisdale after losing in the L2 playoffs to Derby County.

Jack wilshere has been brought in to give the club a higher profile and increase attendances which have remained at 2748 for the past 20 years.

It’s Jack’s first position as manager but he is truly excited and can’t wait to bring his mates along to training

The last 5 years the club and its supporters have been crying out for an appointment like Paul Tisdale. Instead we went for inexperienced rookies. Another inexperienced appointment would have been the final straw for many.

Yes there are promotions and playoffs and disappointments, but my god would I take an ounce of that over the shambles of the last 5 years

At this point anyone who can give us stability of 8th to 14th place would be a huge relief, that’s how low are expectations have fallen.

If we had a short list of potential managers over the last 5 years I’m sure Tisdale would have been on it every time.

Could we have done better? Potentially, but who? Certainly not many.
We are Stevenage, you have to be realistic and this is about as decent a choice we could have made as manager at any time in the last 10 years.

Here’s to hoping everything starts off smoothly and we enjoy a few seasons where we are not stressing about relegation to the conference.

Happy enough. We wanted experience, we got it.

And he's not fatty gob on a stick.

No real idea whether he is a route one, cynical or footballing manager. Don't really care as long as we finish above 14th and look strong enough to build on it next year.

Nothing in life is guaranteed (except Farley being excited and Chuds posting cat pics) but it feels comforting to have someone who knows the division well.

Agree, I think Evans would've been a better appointment objectively but the idea of contributing to his wages or even applauding him after a win made me feel a bit queasy. Besides which we clearly tried to get him and couldn't afford him.

Tisdale has always seemed like a decent fit for the club and really hope he can turn this season round and still be here in a few years' time.

I’ve heard a few say they aren’t happy with this appointment. I’ll go out on a limb and say I’m really happy. Has experience in the EFL, as Phil mentioned has created some really good talents which have gone up the leagues.

A really solid appointment, tried and tested at this level, finally an experienced manager at Stevenage.

Also i trust his judgement in January to spend wisely on some players he feels will strengthen the squad.

I'm disappointed. For all his many faults I thought Evans would have been an exciting appointment. Tisdale's c.v. (particularly post-Exeter) does not fill me with hope. If he can lead Stevenage to a top-half finish this season that will be an achievement.

Coming in the top half this season would be an over achievement.
Not saying it’s impossible but I honestly think we can finish 13th to 16th any lower would be a bit disappointing

Next season will be more interesting
We are led to believe there is money to spend, hopefully we can get some quality players in and compete well. If we finish top half next year it means we will have been in the mix at the right end which will be very refreshing.

Once we have established ourselves as a decent outfit we can then go for an ex international player to increase our profile as the team they will inherit should be pretty decent and no one can mess that up ;)

We are just six points (and a game in hand on most) behind the top half with 28 games still to play, and a promise of funds to spend in January.

Top half finish should very much be our expectation, particularly considering our pre-season aims, not viewed as an overachievement.

Yes it’s achievable but probably unrealistic

We will need 2 points a game just to make 7th
If we are 8 points off this then we could finish top half but that would be one hell of a achievement

I always think back to when we 19th or something like at the start of January of the season we won the playoffs.

Certainly top half should be our minimum aim.

Not to say we should get rid of Tisdale if we don't, just that we shouldn't limit our expectations based on the previous regime.

anything is achievable until it’s impossible

Im going off stats that would indicate where we are likely to finish up

Harrogate currently 7th on PPG expectations 72points
To beat that we would need to play as champions for the rest of the season getting 2 PPG

I expect 12th to be 6-8 points behind that
If we get 64 points that’s 1.65 points per game which is still a lot to ask but is achievable
