If there was ANY debate about whether the shit long balls down the flanks was down to Revs, today is perfect proof. This is night and day different within the first 7 minutes. Passing it around and building it up patiently, without looking like putting ourselves under unnecessary pressure.

Listened to most of the game on the stereogram. We sounded more organised than of late, with actual tactics. Maybe not creating masses, but stemmed the flow at the back.

I think the attacking combinations would come in time, assuming we carried on with ROK (which presumably we aren't).

Our passing out from the back was SIGNIFICANTLY improved. We moved the ball about in a way that is going to create spaces to move the ball forward, instead of just side to side passing between defenders which ultimately is easy to read and invites pressure. That part of our game was considerably improved. I think having a dedicated midfielder coming short to link up helped with that massively.

I think that's harsh. One player fashioned two chances. Jasper is clearly a decent player, but was very quiet the rest of the game, which is a possible indicator that ROK/the team recognised the threat and did something to combat it.

I dont think we ever really looked like losing today.

Listening to ROK interview was refreshing, knew what was going on during the game and what the issues were.

The result is all that matters at the moment, the 3 points was badly needed.

ROK is a breath of fresh air. I'm really disappointed he's ruled himself out of the running. He seems like exactly the coach that this specific squad needs. He looks like he knows how to get more out of the team without tearing it up and starting again.

I fear with Evans it's gonna be a massive upheaval, and I really dont know if it's necessary.

Their chances which Smith saved were a lot similar to what we did against Mansfield when Reid and Reeves kept finding themself with opportunity to shoot from the edge of the box. Their keeper saved those ones too. You'd expect your keeper to save them, albeit they are good saves.

Norris should have scored his free header.

And we had another clear chance a few minutes later, so swings and roundabouts.

And the cross to Norris that went over. If LJW cut it back to Osborne I think it would have resulted in a shot on target at least, and from that distance you'd fancy him to score.

Smash and grab win

Let’s start with the positives: Three points and a clean sheet. Can’t argue with that. We’ll take it, especially as I had very low expectations

But let’s not kid ourselves. We were the ‘away’ team for much of that game. Very little to get excited about. Fortunate to lead at half-time although we defended better second half - even if we did have to soak up the pressure. No idea if their goal was offside or not as was in the North Stand. Stadium was like a library for 90 minutes - never heard it so quiet. Perhaps everyone has low expectations? But where is the excitement? It’s utter guff.

You know that playing as a counter attacking team is an actual, viable tactic and isn't necessarily negative, right?

You don't have to play free-flowing, attacking football at 100mph to be successful.

The only real negative thing about today is your posts.

We've been struggling for weeks with shit football and shit results and just sacked our manager. Hardly going to be a party atmosphere. Biggest cheer I've heard all season at FT.

Important thing was the result, and there was an outburst of relief and appreciation at the end.

Hopefully we can take the positives, build some confidence and push on when the new manager is appointed.

I'm not entirely sure why you're so negative about today. We haven't won for however long it's been, and been dreadful in the process. Today has been a considerable improvement. Imperfect, but unquestionably improved. The football we are trying to play is much better, and over time, I think would improve and start to yield good results.

Reeves, Coker first half, Reid and List all did well.

Luther second half a made some good runs and delivered some decent balls.

Both CBs did well.

Bruno looked good when he received the ball, switching from no. 10 to wide worked offensively but left his FB exposed because he isn't that interested in defending.

First game in ages live for me, enjoyed it. Sat too deep for the last 20 and struggled to get going first 20 but didn't look low on confidence.

One player has created two opportunities to get shots away single handedly. He's clearly a decent player. That doesn't mean the whole team is playing shit.

I was wrong. It’s fucking dreadful. A better side than Colchester would be two or three up now.

Agreed and they are still tearing us apart. Reeves, Bruno etc. are not the types of player you want in a relegation scrap.

Probably won't test their keeper this half.

Reeves is a problem, as is Coker, and having them both on the same side is an issue.

But I really dont think its as bad as you're making out.

ROK has swapped Reeves and Taylor, so Taylor is now on the left up against Jasper as opposed to Reeves who wasn't containing him.

This is the sort of in-game management you expect to see from a manager. Slight tweaks and adjustments in response to what is happening in the game. It really isn't rocket science.

I actually think we might have even switched to a 4-4-2 with Andrade left and Reeves right. Presumably to combat their attacks down the wings. Smart adjustment.

EDIT: looks like it may have just been a temporary change.

Yeah, getting hit down the wings.

But our passing out from the back is a substantial improvement.
